In view of the intensifying cold wave, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has ordered the closure of all schools up to 12th grade across the state until January 5, 2026. This includes schools affiliated with ICSE, CBSE, and UP boards.
Rising Cold Prompts Safety Measures
The northern region of India is experiencing a severe cold wave, and Uttar Pradesh is no exception. The state has seen temperatures drop sharply, prompting the government to take preventive measures. CM Yogi directed officials to ensure the safety of children and vulnerable citizens during this period.
“Due to the severe cold, all schools up to class 12 will remain closed until January 5. Officials must remain vigilant and monitor conditions in all affected districts,” said the CM.

Arrangements for Public Safety
CM Yogi instructed officials to provide adequate blankets and bonfires across districts and ensure that no individual sleeps outdoors. Necessary facilities must be maintained at night shelters for the homeless and vulnerable populations.
Uttar Pradesh Weather Update
The cold wave has intensified across the state. On Friday, several districts reported severe cold conditions, while fog and western winds caused further discomfort to residents. The Meteorological Department has forecast a further drop in both day and night temperatures over the next three days.
