Uttar Pradesh government launches cashless treatment scheme for 12 lakh teachers and cooks. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath announces coverage in government and private hospitals.
The Uttar Pradesh government has announced a significant healthcare benefit for teachers and cooks associated with the Basic Education Council. Under this initiative, nearly 12 lakh employees and their dependents will now receive cashless medical treatment at both government and private hospitals. The move was approved by the state cabinet following Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s announcement.
The scheme, which will be fully funded by the Basic Education Department, provides annual coverage of approximately ₹3,000 per eligible employee. Beneficiaries will receive treatment at rates equivalent to the Ayushman Bharat scheme, ensuring access to quality healthcare services without any financial burden.
The CM initially announced the scheme on Teachers’ Day, September 5, and the cabinet formally approved it on January 28. Orders for implementation were issued by the Additional Chief Secretary of Basic Education, Parth Sarathi Sen Sharma.
