Uttarakhand: The boy had sent the mail “just for fun” after being influenced by the news of another teenager who made a hoax bomb threat call a few days ago.
According to authorities, on Sunday, a 13-year-old kid was arrested for reportedly sending an email to the Delhi Airport purporting that a bomb had been installed on the aircraft headed for Dubai.
As to Usha Rangnani, Deputy Commissioner of Police (IGI Airport), the child had written the mail “just for fun” after being swayed by the news of another adolescent who had called in a fake bomb threat a few days prior.
The incident happened on Monday, according to DCP, after a complaint about a bomb threat on a June 18 airplane that was headed for Dubai was filed.
An investigation was started after a formal complaint was filed. The passengers’ safety and security were guaranteed by adhering to all rules, procedures, and standard operating procedures, according to DCP.
“Airport was put on high alert, and an emergency was declared,” she stated.
She added, nevertheless, that it was discovered during the investigation that the email was fraudulent.
“The email ID was removed shortly after the email was sent, according to the inquiry. Pithoragarh in Uttarakhand is where the email was tracked, according to Rangnani.
The child who sent the phone email was caught when a team was dispatched, according to her.
“The child informed the police team that he had removed his ID and sent the email using a mobile device his parents had given him for school. Because he was afraid, he did not tell his parents anything. He was taken into custody and turned over to his parents,” she continued.
