Uttarakhand CM Pushkar Singh Dhami spent his 50th birthday with disaster victims in rain-hit Dehradun, inspected flood damage, led relief efforts, and held virtual public interactions on Tehsil Day.
Choosing duty over celebration, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami marked his 50th birthday by standing shoulder to shoulder with disaster-affected citizens following heavy rains and cloudburst-like conditions in various parts of Dehradun. Rather than hosting any formal birthday event, CM Dhami was seen early Tuesday morning personally inspecting the damage and coordinating relief operations.
CM Pushkar Singh Dhami Chooses Service Over Celebration
In line with his earlier announcement to forgo any birthday festivities, CM Dhami chose to spend the day with flood victims, demonstrating a commitment to public service and compassion. The Chief Minister had already stated that he would not organize or allow any formal celebrations on his birthday and had requested his supporters to observe the day with simplicity and service.
True to his word, as the city witnessed torrential rains from Monday night, leading to severe waterlogging and local disasters, CM Dhami mobilized relief operations at the break of dawn on September 16.
Inspects Flood-Hit Areas, Climbs JCB to Reach Victims
One of the most striking images from the day was CM Dhami stepping out of his car and climbing onto a JCB machine to personally reach the worst-affected areas in Maldevta, near Dehradun. He reviewed the extent of the damage, interacted directly with affected families, and instructed district authorities to initiate immediate relief and rescue operations.
CM Pushkar Singh Dhami appeared visibly moved while assessing the devastation and assured residents that the state government would provide every possible assistance.
Immediate Action and Relief Measures Ordered
CM Pushkar Singh Dhami directed the State Disaster Management Department to act swiftly and ensure that all victims receive immediate aid. He held early morning meetings with District Magistrates and officials to gather real-time data on damage and emphasized the urgency of restoring normalcy.
He stated, “Those affected must receive timely assistance. The government is standing firmly with every disaster victim and will not tolerate any delay in relief work.”
Virtual Interaction During Tehsil Day Across the State
In addition to the field visits, CM Pushkar Singh Dhami also joined Tehsil Day programs virtually across all tehsils of Uttarakhand, using the platform to interact with citizens and address public grievances. He directed officials to resolve complaints swiftly and reminded them that Tehsil Day is a powerful tool to connect with the people and ensure good governance.
“Timely resolution of every grievance is our government’s priority,” CM Pushkar Singh Dhami said, reaffirming his commitment to transparent and responsive administration.
