The CM emphasized that arrangements must be made for shelters, warm clothing, and food for the poor and homeless citizens. The Disaster Management Department has been placed on high alert to respond promptly to any emergency situations.
During his visit to Nainital on Thursday, CM Dhami reviewed the state’s preparedness for the upcoming cold spell. He directed authorities to ensure that public places and all rain shelters are equipped with adequate quilts, blankets, and other essentials. Additionally, bonfires should be maintained in key locations to protect citizens from extreme cold conditions.

The Chief Minister instructed all district officials to deploy teams actively across urban and semi-urban areas, towns, and major public spaces. These teams are responsible for monitoring conditions closely and providing timely assistance to those in need, particularly the vulnerable and homeless population. CM Dhami stressed that the government’s primary objective is to safeguard citizens during the harsh winter conditions.
Officials were also directed to maintain daily reports on the availability, distribution, and monitoring of essential materials in rain shelters and public places. Regular inspection of bonfires and their management was highlighted as a key preventive measure.
