Education Aims to Bring Positive Change to Society: Governor Shri Mangubhai Patel
Governor Shri Mangubhai Patel presided over the 7th convocation of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Social Science University, Mhow, held on Wednesday with unprecedented enthusiasm, dignity and respect for constitutional values. The ceremony began with floral tributes at the statues of the Constitution Maker, Dr. B.R. Ambedkar and the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi. On the occasion of the 76th Constitution Day, the Preamble of the Constitution was also read aloud at the statue of Babasaheb Ambedkar.
Governor Shri Mangubhai Patel congratulated all graduating students and wished them a bright future. He reminded everyone of Dr. Ambedkar’s core mantra: ‘Educate, Organise, Agitate’, emphasising that the purpose of education extends beyond livelihood to fostering positive change in society. Governor Patel called on the youth to play an active role in realising Dr. Ambedkar’s dream of an India where everyone has equal opportunities.
Governor Shri Mangubhai Patel urged students to embrace the principles of social justice, harmony, and inclusive development in their lives, and to apply their university-acquired knowledge to promote genuine social cohesion and uplift marginalised communities. He said, “You are ambassadors of social justice from this university”. The Governor emphasised that knowledge should make students sensitive citizens, not just comfort-seeking individuals.

Governor Shri Mangubhai Patel advised students to respect and serve their parents and teachers, recognising the hardships endured to raise them. Serving parents is a true path to serving society and the nation.
Chief Guest, Union Minister of State for Women and Child Development, Smt. Savitri Thakur stated that Mhow is the birthplace of Dr. Ambedkar and that the university located here is a major centre for social change. She highlighted youth as a driving force behind the development of the state and nation, and lauded the university’s scholars for conducting research that offers practical solutions to socio-economic inequalities.
Scheduled Caste Welfare Minister Shri Nagar Singh Chauhan highlighted the institute’s role in advancing vital research in social sciences and encouraged students to directly connect their research to public welfare and state development programs. MLA Usha Thakur congratulated degree recipients and encouraged them to use their talents to achieve noble goals.
Saraswat Guest Dr. Ravindra Kanhere and Vice-Chancellor Dr. Ramdas Atram also extended their best wishes to the students, emphasising that university research should support rural development, health, and education initiatives, reaching fields, villages, and communities rather than remaining confined to libraries.

The university’s souvenir publications were also released. The Convocation ceremony included a welcome speech by Vice Chancellor Shri Ramlal Atram and a vote of thanks by Registrar Dr. Ajay Verma.
