Yoga is practiced by many in Chandigarh, Haryana.
The 10th International Yoga Day was celebrated on Friday in a number of locations throughout Chandigarh and Haryana, with thousands of participants.
The major event was place at the internationally renowned Rock Garden in Chandigarh, the joint capital of Punjab and Haryana, where a sizable crowd showed up early in the morning to practice yoga amid cloudy sky and a nice breeze.
Banwarilal Purohit, the Union Territory Administrator and Governor of Punjab, joined close to 2,000 individuals in the famous Rock Garden.
Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini of Haryana escorted members of his Cabinet and other government employees to the major function in the town of Hisar.
Most ministers were present in the celebrations held at each district headquarters to commemorate the day.
‘Yoga for Self and Society’ was this year’s theme, emphasizing the dual benefits of yoga for social and personal wellbeing.
Under the direction of DIG Brig Pawan Bajaj (retd), Border Security Force (BSF) men in Punjab practiced yoga at zero line at the joint check point at Attari near Amritsar. BSF described the show as “truly awe-inspiring!” in a post on X.

Several non-governmental organisations and yoga associations from Chandigarh took part in the event, which was held at more than 100 sites and demonstrated their dedication to promoting yoga and wellbeing.
In the Chandigarh Press Club premises, renowned yoga teacher Swami Lalji Maharaj conducted yoga classes alongside journalists and their families, under the direction of club president Nalin Acharya.
