Yogi Adityanath mandates all UP departments to use the GeM portal for procurement. He warns against negligence and orders treasury integration for transparency.
Taking a tough stance on administrative transparency, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has issued a stern warning to all government departments regarding procurement processes. During a high-level review meeting on Wednesday, the Chief Minister expressed deep dissatisfaction over the negligence shown by certain departments in utilizing the Government e-Marketplace (GeM) portal. Yogi Adityanath made it clear that any further delay or carelessness in adopting this digital procurement system will not be tolerated.
Mandatory Procurement via GeM Portal
To ensure a corruption-free and accountable ecosystem, Yogi Adityanath directed that all state departments must conduct their purchases exclusively through the GeM portal. He emphasized that the shift to digital procurement is non-negotiable and instructed officials to rectify any existing technical or procedural flaws immediately. By mandating this shift, the government aims to eliminate middlemen and bring complete clarity to how public funds are utilized.

Integration with State Treasury
In a major policy move, Yogi Adityanath ordered the integration of the GeM portal with the state treasury. This step is expected to streamline payments and ensure that the procurement process is transparent from start to finish. Additionally, the Chief Minister directed the formation of post-based Permanent Purchase Committees in every department to oversee these transactions. Yogi Adityanath reiterated that “Zero Tolerance” toward corruption remains the core pillar of his governance, and these structural changes are essential to maintain that standard.
Significant Savings and Economic Impact
The review meeting highlighted that in the 2025-26 financial year, procurement worth ₹22,337 crore was successfully conducted through the platform. Yogi Adityanath lauded the “Reverse Auction” method, which has resulted in massive savings of over ₹9,700 crore for the state exchequer. Furthermore, this digital transition has led to an 80% reduction in procurement-related complaints, proving the effectiveness of the GeM policy in enhancing purity and inclusivity in business dealings.
Boosting Startups and Marginalized Entrepreneurs
The impact of these reforms is visible in the growing diversity of the state’s supply chain. Yogi Adityanath noted with satisfaction that the GeM platform has empowered various sectors, with a 44% increase in business for women entrepreneurs, a 48% rise for SC-ST entrepreneurs, and a 50% surge in startup participation. Through these efforts, Yogi Adityanath is ensuring a competitive and fair marketplace that provides equal opportunities to every scale of business in Uttar Pradesh.
