On the 131st day of the anti-drug campaign “Yudh Nashian Virudh,” launched under the guidance of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, Punjab Police arrested 129 drug peddlers and seized 4.2 kg of heroin, 509 grams of opium, and ₹23,370 in drug-related cash. With these arrests, the total number of drug smugglers apprehended during the 131-day drive has risen to 21,356.
The crackdown was carried out across all 28 police districts on the orders of Punjab DGP Gaurav Yadav. CM Mann has directed senior officials—including Commissioners of Police, Deputy Commissioners, and SSPs—to work towards making Punjab a drug-free state.
To strengthen this initiative, the Punjab government has formed a five-member Cabinet Sub-Committee headed by Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema to oversee the campaign.
