No Film with Vijay Sethupathi & Tabu? ‘Sister Midnight’ Actress Radhika Apte Responds to Big-Budget Film Rumors
Radhika Apte is finally setting the record straight. Amid swirling speculation about a supposed film collaboration with Puri Jagannadh, Vijay Sethupathi, and Tabu, the actress has laughed off the rumors — quite literally.

In an exclusive chat with India Today, Apte responded to the viral reports with visible amusement.
“Oh my God, I didn’t even know this,” she said, laughing. “I have no idea about this news and I’m not doing this film. I absolutely have no idea – wow. This is so funny.”
The now-debunked rumor had fans buzzing, especially given the prospect of such a powerful ensemble cast. But Apte made it crystal clear: she’s not part of any Puri Jagannadh project.
What Is Radhika Apte Working On?
While she’s not teaming up with Tabu and Sethupathi anytime soon, Apte has plenty going on — including stepping behind the camera.
The versatile actor is currently developing a Marathi film, potentially with filmmaker Vikramaditya Motwane, which she may also direct.
“There’s a project I’m trying to do with Vikram, something that I can direct,” she revealed. “But ‘Koyta’ is just something we’re discussing — and the news came out prematurely.”
She also hinted at another upcoming film, though both projects are still in the early stages. “It’s so unclear to even us that I was a bit taken aback by the news coming out like that.”
Radhika Apte’s Big-Screen Comeback: Sister Midnight
In the meantime, fans won’t have to wait long to see Radhika back on screen. Her much-anticipated film Sister Midnight is finally set for release in India.
Directed by debutant Karan Kandhari, the BAFTA-nominated black comedy follows Uma, a newly married woman trying to make sense of her life in an arranged marriage — all set against the chaotic backdrop of Mumbai.
Apte described it as “a very crazy film. A wild ride. It’s strange and unlike anything I’ve done before.”
With her fearless approach to roles and now an interest in directing, Radhika Apte continues to reinvent herself in Indian cinema.
So no, she’s not joining a star-studded action flick just yet — but she is about to take audiences on a wild, unexpected ride with Sister Midnight.
