CM Bhajan Lal Sharma on Friday launched the Senior Citizen Tirth Yatra Scheme 2025-26 by cutting the ribbon. Also, the first air-conditioned ‘Rajasthan Vahini Bharat Gaurav Tourist Train “under the scheme was flagged off from Durgapura Railway Station. Senior citizens will travel to the pilgrimage sites of Rameswaram and Madurai by this AC train. On the occasion, the Chief Minister met senior citizens and wished them a smooth and successful journey.
Speaking on the occasion, CM Bhajan Lal Sharma said that the elderly are an invaluable heritage for us and an important pillar of the society. Their experiences and ideals guide us on the right path in life. He said that the Senior Citizen Pilgrimage Scheme is a gesture of service, respect and gratitude to the senior citizens who have served the society and the nation throughout their life.
The important contribution of pilgrimage sites in promoting brotherhood in the society.
CM Bhajan Lal Sharma said that the pilgrimage sites of the country serve to connect the Sanatan culture. At the same time, these places also have a big contribution in increasing brotherhood in the society. Jagadguru Shankaracharya understood their importance and established Char Dham in four parts of the country. He said that every person has a desire to visit important pilgrimage sites in his lifetime, this pilgrimage scheme is being run by taking inspiration from the desire of the senior citizens to visit the holy shrines. He said that all necessary facilities including food, lodging facilities will be provided free of cost by the state government to all the pilgrims during this yatra.
The rich heritage of the country got new energy from the Prime Minister –
CM Bhajan Lal Sharma said that the successful Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has done a lot of work after 2014 to carry forward the rich legacy of the country. Under his leadership, the Sanatan culture in the country is getting a new energy. He said that the Prime Minister has done many works like the development of Somnath, the construction of Mahakal Mahalok, the reconstruction of Kedar Valley. Also, the life of Ram Lalla was consecrated in the grand temple of Ayodhya by Shri Modi.
The state government has taken many decisions in the interest of senior citizens.
CM Bhajan Lal Sharma said that our government is making continuous efforts to improve the lives of senior citizens of the state. Under the Senior Citizen Tirth Yatra Scheme, 50,000 senior citizens are being taken to 13 different pilgrimage sites in AC trains for the first time this year. Also, about six thousand devotees were given darshan of Lord Pashupatinath in Nepal by air. He said that our government has done a lot of work including increasing the monthly bhog amount of 593 state temples managed by the Devasthan Department in the state and outside the state, celebrating festivals in various temples, renovation of temples and development of public facilities.
Minister for Devasthan Shri Joram Kumawat, Members of Parliament Shri Madan Rathod and Smt Manju Sharma, Mayor of Jaipur Greater Municipal Corporation Smt Soumya Gurjar, various public representatives, a large number of pilgrims and their families were present on the occasion.
