Veteran action director Vikram Singh Dahiya recently revealed that Akshay Kumar personally advocated for and helped fund insurance coverage for stuntmen, providing both health and accident insurance benefits. “Thanks to Akshay sir, around 650–700 stuntmen and action crew members in Bollywood are now covered under insurance,” Dahiya said. “If a stuntman is injured on or off set, he can avail of cashless treatment up to Rs 5–5.5 lakh.”
Dahiya added that a special clause was included in the insurance policy, which Akshay Kumar personally pushed for, showing the actor’s deep understanding of the risks stunt professionals face. “This insurance wasn’t there before. Akshay Kumar not only advocated for it but also helped fund it. He knows first-hand what stuntmen go through,” he said.
The General Secretary of the Movie Stunt Artists Association, Aejaz Khan, praised Kumar’s dedication, stating, “This entire policy, which has helped many members, has been funded from Akshay Kumar’s own pocket for the last eight years. It has truly benefited our community.”
The insurance program was introduced back in 2017 and has since provided crucial support to stuntmen who have suffered injuries or lost their lives while working on or off film sets.
