In a recent chat with Cyrus Broacha on his podcast, Kayoze revealed that he once shouted at Ibrahim Ali Khan for being late to the shoot, admitting, “I was a little aggressive.” The incident took place during a shoot far from Mumbai, in Vasai, which led to heightened frustration for the director, who values punctuality deeply. “I can’t repeat the language I used, but I said, ‘Next time you are late to the set…’ And I stopped. I lost it,” Kayoze shared candidly.
Interestingly, Kayoze also confessed that the tension that day inadvertently led to one of Ibrahim’s best performances. “I didn’t talk to him all day. I sulked, but I think that was the best scene he did.”
Kayoze praised Ibrahim’s commitment to the role, noting that the actor brought his own life experiences into the character, making him a perfect fit. “We did six months of workshops; his first day of shoot was on Sarzameen. Ibrahim Ali Khan and I had the most to prove on this film. I wanted to prove that there is a star out there,” Kayoze said, expressing pride in Ibrahim’s positive reception.
