CM Dr. Yadav said that an Engineers Research and Training Institute will be established in the state to enhance efficiency of engineers by training them in modern technology and methods of work.
CM Dr. Yadav ,Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, through initiatives like PM Gati Shakti, has been encouraging engineers, boosting their morale in challenging situations. Indian engineers have demonstrated excellence through landmark projects like the Chenab Bridge. The Public Works Department in the state has initiated efforts focused on public welfare. Chief Minister Dr. Yadav was addressing the state-level program on the birth anniversary of Sir Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya at the Kushabhau Thakre Auditorium, emphasising the commitment of public works to public welfare. The event began with a ceremonial lamp lighting and garlanding of Sir Visvesvaraya’s portrait.
Inspiration from India’s Architectural Heritage
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav stated that the term “engineer” means initiator, and our engineers are initiators. The greatest engineer of creation is God, who created this world, and engineers make the operation of this structure possible. Indian knowledge traditions reveal contributions of several engineers. Lord Vishwakarma is revered as the deity of technology and engineering. The two buildings of the Indian Parliament are inspired by ancient structures of Madhya Pradesh. Engineers are akin to Lord Hanuman, possessing the skill to simplify even the most complex tasks. Sir Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya set new benchmarks in engineering during the challenging times of 20th century. Chief Minister Dr. Yadav also recalled the contributions of great scientist Jagdish Chandra Bose. He congratulated all engineers and contractors being honoured at the event.\
Sir Visvesvaraya a Guiding Light for Indian Engineers
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that the great engineer, modern India’s Vishwakarma, Bharat Ratna Dr. Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya, made technology a powerful tool for development and public welfare. His contributions provided India with a world-class engineering perspective. Sir Visvesvaraya will always be considered a guiding light for the Indian engineering community. His foresight, diligence, and engineering skills inspire the nation’s commitment to building a strong and prosperous country.
Launch of Two Digital Platforms
On this occasion, Chief Minister Dr. Yadav inaugurated two major digital platforms of the Public Works Department: the Public Works Survey App and the Public Project Management System. He also released the department newsletter focusing on achievements,schemes and innovations. Engineers and contractors of the Public Works Department were honoured for excellence and quality work. Recipients included Mr. Sunil Kaurav (Executive Engineer, Budhni), Ms. Preeti Yadav and Mr. Pramesh Kori (Assistant Engineers, Jabalpur), Mr. Sanjeev Kalra (Assistant Engineer, Rewa), Ms. Bhuvana Joshi (Sub-Divisional Officer, Shivpuri), Mr. Rajeev Srivastava (General Manager, MPRDC, Gwalior), Mr. Deepak Sharma (Assistant General Manager, MPRDC, Ujjain), and Mr. Vikram Soni (Deputy General Manager, Madhya Pradesh Building Corporation, Bhopal), who received the Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya Award. Similarly, M/s NCC Limited, Hyderabad; M/s Nivik Construction; M/s Ranighati Infratech Pvt. Ltd., Gurugram; M/s Hargovind Gupta, Chhatarpur were honoured with the Vishwakarma Award. Dr. Deepak Pandey received the Rani Durgavati Environment-Friendly Award.
Minister Shri Rakesh Singh on Transparency and Accountability
Public Works Minister Shri Rakesh Singh said that Bharat Ratna Sir Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya was not only a great engineer but also a visionary social reformer. He always conveyed that an engineer’s duty is not just to build structures but also to build a strong and better society. Under the guidance of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav, Madhya Pradesh has achieved remarkable milestones in infrastructure development. This initiative advances technical excellence while strengthening public accessibility and transparency.
Engineers Are Pillars of Nation-Building
Famous engineer and author Shri Prashant Paul recalled the historical contributions of engineers and described them as pillars of nation-building. He highlighted India’s ancient engineering traditions, noting that thousands of years ago, our ancestors created miraculous structures that are still admired worldwide, from massive temples to advanced water management systems and sports facilities. He cited examples such as the world’s oldest stadiums and complex hydro-power systems developed in India. The scientific vision of great rulers like Raja Bhoj continues to inspire today.
Sir Visvesvaraya’s Nationalist Outlook
Principal Secretary of Public Works, Shri Sukhveer Singh, addressed the program. Chief Engineer of the Public Works Department, Shri Sanjay Maske, highlighted Sir Visvesvaraya’s significant role in constructing the Tigra Dam in Madhya Pradesh. He noted Sir Visvesvaraya’s remarkable contributions to infrastructure development in India. Sir Visvesvaraya was imbued with nationalist ideals and resigned from his government engineering job due to colonial neglect of Indians, never compromising on self-respect. Chief Minister Dr. Yadav was presented with a memento during the program.
