The announcement came via Instagram, where Vir Das wrote:
“INDIA TOUR! My new show #SoundsOfIndia is ready, for my largest ever India tour. Let me take you home. Tickets go live in 48 hours. We start in Kanniyakumari and head to Kashmir!”
Tickets will be available exclusively on BookMyShow.
A Dream 10 Years in the Making
In a heartfelt post on X (formerly Twitter), Vir revealed that the idea for this show has been brewing for nearly a decade. “Five years ago, I began to write a show about India. I dreamed of it for like ten years—a show that attempted to capture our existence with relentless spread and pace. Then a video about India on my YouTube made sure there was no chance in hell I could talk about the country, or even tour it properly,” he shared.
He admitted that controversy in comedy often comes with a mix of risk, hate, attention, and guilt. For a long time, he felt he had lost the right to explore India through his material, so he focused instead on building his global career.
