Indian cricket star Smriti Mandhana has once again secured the No. 1 position in the ICC Women’s ODI Batting Rankings, following her impressive half-century against Australia in the opening match of their three-match series. The latest rankings, released on Tuesday, highlight Mandhana’s consistent performance and boost her confidence ahead of the upcoming Women’s Cricket World Cup, scheduled to begin on September 30.
Smriti Mandhana’s Stellar Performance
In the first ODI played at Mullanpur, Mandhana showcased her batting prowess by scoring a crucial 58 runs off 63 balls. Despite her valiant effort, India fell short as Australia comfortably chased the target, taking a 1-0 lead in the series. Nevertheless, Mandhana’s innings earned her seven valuable rating points, propelling her to the top of the batting charts with 735 points, edging past England’s Nat Sciver-Brunt, who slipped to second place with 731 points.
Smriti Mandhana first reached the pinnacle of the ODI batting rankings in 2019 and has now reclaimed the spot twice in 2025, reflecting her sustained excellence in international cricket.
Other Indian Batters on the Rise
Alongside Smriti Mandhana, other Indian batters made notable strides in the rankings. Pratika Rawal, who contributed 64 runs in the same match, jumped four places to 42nd position, while Harleen Deol climbed to 43rd after her well-crafted 54. Their upward movement underscores the growing strength and depth of India’s batting lineup.

Australia’s left-handed batter Beth Mooney gained three positions to reach fifth place following an unbeaten 77, demonstrating her vital role in the team’s victory. Meanwhile, Annabel Sutherland and Phoebe Litchfield shared the 25th spot, moving up four and thirteen places respectively, both delivering impressive half-centuries that contributed to Australia’s commanding eight-wicket win.
Bowling Rankings: Indian Spinners Make Gains
On the bowling front, Australia’s Kim Garth and Alana King climbed to their career-best rankings, reaching fourth and fifth spots in the ODI bowling list. Indian spinner Sneh Rana also improved significantly, moving five places up to 13th after taking a wicket in the match. England’s Sophie Ecclestone continues to hold the coveted No. 1 spot in the bowling rankings.
