Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate a year-long commemorative event for the national song “Vande Mataram” at the Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium in New Delhi on Friday. Alongside the inauguration, PM Modi will also release a commemorative postal stamp and coin to mark the historic occasion.

The celebration is being organized to honor 150 years since the composition of “Vande Mataram”, a patriotic anthem penned by Bankim Chandra Chatterjee on Akshaya Navami, November 7, 1875. The song was first published as part of Chatterjee’s novel “Anandamath” in the literary magazine Bangadarshan.

According to a statement issued by the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), the commemoration will begin on November 7, 2025, and continue for a full year until November 7, 2026. The event aims to celebrate the cultural and historical significance of the song, which has been a symbol of India’s patriotism and unity for generations.
