Prime Minister Narendra Modi has arrived in Assam for a two-day visit, during which he is set to launch multiple development projects worth approximately Rs 15,600 crore and address public gatherings.
On arrival at Lokapriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport, PM Modi was warmly received by Assam Governor Laxman Prasad Acharya, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, cabinet ministers, Guwahati Mayor Mrigen Sarania, and senior state officials.
The PM Modi then visited the new airport complex located about a kilometre from the main terminal, where he unveiled an 80-foot statue of Assam’s first Chief Minister, Gopinath Bordoloi, crafted by renowned sculptor Ram Sutar.
Following the statue unveiling, PM Modi inaugurated the Rs 4,000-crore new terminal of the Lokapriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport, spending around 15 minutes inside. He also addressed a public meeting outside the terminal.
Later, the Prime Minister participated in a roadshow en route to the BJP headquarters in the Bashista area, interacting with party workers. PM Modi will stay overnight at the state guest house in the Khanapara area of Guwahati during his visit.
This visit highlights the government’s focus on infrastructure development and public engagement in Assam, further strengthening regional growth and connectivity.
