Gold and silver prices showed a notable decline in the Indian bullion market today, continuing the market’s volatility. After recent highs, silver fell sharply by ₹5,800, settling at ₹2.61 lakh per kilogram, while gold dropped ₹1,300 to ₹1.57 lakh per 10 grams.
Gold and Silver Rates in India Today
Following strong gains in the early trading session, both precious metals saw corrections in the afternoon. Gold prices decreased by ₹1,300 per 10 grams, and silver slipped by ₹5,800 per kilogram. Early trading saw gold drop ₹960 to ₹1.57 lakh per 10 grams, while silver declined ₹2,640, reaching ₹2.61 lakh per kilogram.

The decline was attributed to the US dollar recovering from a one-week low, putting pressure on global commodity prices. Investors are closely monitoring the upcoming US employment and inflation data, which are expected to influence global interest rate trends and impact precious metals markets.
International Gold and Silver Rates
In the international market, spot gold prices fell 1% to $5,016.56 per ounce after climbing 2% in the previous session due to a weaker dollar. Earlier, gold hit a record high of $5,594.82 per ounce on January 29. Meanwhile, US gold futures for April delivery declined 0.8% to $5,041.60 per ounce.
Silver also saw a sharp drop, with spot prices falling 2.5% to $81.31 per ounce, after experiencing a 7% surge in the previous session. On January 29, silver reached an all-time high of $121.64 per ounce.
Domestic Bullion Market Update
In India’s local bullion market, silver prices surged 6.66% to ₹2.72 lakh per kilogram on Monday, while 99.9% pure gold rose ₹1,300 to ₹1.58 lakh per 10 grams.
MCX Gold and Silver Futures
On the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX), gold and silver futures showed strength earlier this week. April gold futures closed at ₹1,58,394 per 10 grams, up ₹2,943 or 1.89%. March silver futures rose ₹12,853 or 5.14%, closing at ₹2,62,745 per kilogram.
Market experts suggest that gold and silver prices will continue to fluctuate this week, driven by global economic data, currency movements, and domestic demand-supply trends.
