President of India Droupadi Murmu inaugurated the National Tribal Development Conclave in New Delhi on June 3, 2026, emphasizing the need for grassroots implementation of welfare schemes and holistic development of tribal communities across the country.
The event, officially titled the National Conclave on Strengthening of Integrated Tribal Development Agencies and Integrated Tribal Development Projects, brought together officials and stakeholders working toward tribal welfare and empowerment.

Addressing participants at the National Tribal Development Conclave, President Murmu described the gathering as a meeting of “tribal change agents” and urged attendees to ensure that government welfare and development programs reach tribal communities at the village level.

She said the responsibility lies with agencies and project personnel to bring meaningful change to the lives of tribal citizens by ensuring access to education, healthcare, nutrition, and livelihood opportunities.
National Tribal Development Conclave Highlights Education and Skill Development
During the National Tribal Development Conclave, the President also virtually inaugurated a Training Fab at the Centre for Nano Science and Engineering at the Indian Institute of Science and launched 75 Space Labs in Eklavya Model Residential Schools.

Highlighting the importance of education, she encouraged stakeholders to strengthen educational and skill development initiatives for tribal youth. The President noted that nearly 500 Eklavya Model Residential Schools have already been established across India to improve educational access for tribal students.
National Tribal Development Conclave Promotes Inclusive Growth
The National Tribal Development Conclave also focused on preserving tribal culture and traditional knowledge while advancing modern development initiatives. President Murmu expressed satisfaction that tribal heritage is being given due importance alongside economic and social progress.
She advised officials to remember that every policy document and project file ultimately aims to improve human lives. Ensuring proper nutrition for mothers, quality education for children, dignified employment for youth, and access to welfare schemes for every tribal family should remain the central objective of all development efforts, she said.

Concluding her address, the President stated that the holistic development of tribal communities is essential to achieving the vision of Viksit Bharat by 2047. She expressed confidence that the discussions and recommendations emerging from the National Tribal Development Conclave would help translate policy goals into effective action at the grassroots level.
