India all-rounder Hardik Pandya has been ruled out of the upcoming three-match ODI series against Afghanistan after suffering a late fitness setback at the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru.
The setback comes at a crucial time when the star all-rounder was close to making his return to international cricket after more than a year away from the ODI format.

According to reports, Hardik Pandya sustained a low-grade leg sprain during his training phase. The injury, though not serious in nature, caused tenderness and forced the medical team to advise complete rest and avoid any physical strain.

He had been training intensively at the BCCI Centre of Excellence since June 2 and was expected to rejoin the national squad in Dharamsala. However, the recovery timeline has now been extended, keeping him under supervision in Bengaluru.
A BCCI official confirmed that the medical staff recommended a short break to prevent further complications, and the player will continue rehabilitation under the Centre of Excellence support team.
Squad Impact and Replacement Possibilities
With Hardik Pandya unavailable, the Indian team management is now expected to reassess its squad combination for the Afghanistan ODIs. Reports suggest that all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy is likely to feature in all three matches.
The selection committee is also considering whether to name a direct replacement for Pandya in the squad.
