Reality shows often push celebrities well beyond their comfort zones, but for Ram Kapoor, the experience appears to have become overwhelming. In the latest episode of Lock Upp, the actor admitted he regretted signing up for the show and requested host Riteish Deshmukh to evict him, saying he no longer felt he belonged in the competition. While his emotional confession left the house surprised, Riteish encouraged him to stay and face the challenges instead of walking away.
Ram Kapoor asks Riteish Deshmukh to evict him from Lock Upp
The drama unfolded after the inmates were left with just ₹3,400 to arrange food for the entire house. Hoping to pressure the makers into providing meals, the contestants unanimously decided not to spend the money and instead go hungry. However, their strategy backfired, and by the following morning, they had lost the remaining amount as well, leaving everyone without food.
Amid the growing tension, Ram Kapoor refused to participate in the task that could have earned rations for the house. Explaining his decision, the actor admitted that he no longer felt suited for the reality show. “Yeh show mere liye galat hai, main iss show ke liye galat hoon shayad (This show is wrong for me and I might also be wrong for this show). I should have not said yes to a show like this. So I need to exit this show as soon as possible. I am not participating in this show anymore,” he said.
Riteish Deshmukh urges Ram Kapoor to stay
Later, as Riteish Deshmukh addressed the contestants during a task, he questioned their decision to rebel instead of managing their limited resources wisely. The host criticised the inmates for exhausting their food budget and then blaming the makers for not providing them with food.
When fellow contestant Akanksha Chamola blamed Ram Kapoor for initiating the protest, the actor admitted that his perspective on the show had changed. “I have learnt in this one week that maybe I have made a mistake. I chose this show by mistake. Whatever your rationale is, which is right, it’s wrong for me. Yesterday, you made me realise that I am taking this show lightly, as if I am on a vacation. I know my positives and negatives, and I don’t want to project the wrong image,” he said.
Ram further requested Riteish to evict him, adding, “I don’t want to give justifications like them. Now that I know the intensity of the gameplay, I know I don’t belong here. Now I don’t want to disrespect you, Farah, Netflix or this game by staying here, so I request you to please evict me now.”
However, Riteish refused to let Ram give up so easily. Encouraging the actor to continue, he reminded him that his positivity and cheerful personality were among his biggest strengths and urged him to overcome the challenges instead of walking away from the competition.
Ram Kapoor shares the emotional reason behind his decision
As the conversation continued, Ram Kapoor revealed why he no longer wanted to remain on the show. The actor admitted that he had grown deeply attached to his fellow contestants, making it difficult for him to see them go hungry.
“My biggest disadvantage right now is that I have started loving all of them. They are all much younger than I am, and in the last 15 to 20 years of my life, I have never had a group of people so much younger than me become this close to me. When I am getting food, and they are not, it’s really bothering me. I can’t look out only for myself and ignore them,” Ram shared.
Ram wasn’t the only contestant who became emotional during the episode. Sunita Ahuja also requested Riteish Deshmukh to evict her so she could return to her children. Responding to both contestants, Riteish assured the inmates that their well-being remained his responsibility and promised they would be taken care of.
