Prime Minister Narendra Modi has embarked on a significant three-nation visit covering Indonesia, Australia and New Zealand from July 6 to July 11. The tour is expected to strengthen India’s diplomatic outreach in the Indo-Pacific region and deepen cooperation in key sectors such as defence, trade, investment, education and emerging technologies.
According to the Prime Minister’s Office, the visit aligns with India’s Act East Policy, its vision for maritime cooperation and its commitment to a free, open and inclusive Indo-Pacific region.
Indonesia Visit to Strengthen Strategic Partnership
The first leg of the tour will take Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Indonesia, where he will hold bilateral discussions with President Prabowo Subianto from July 6 to July 8.
The visit marks Modi’s first bilateral trip to Indonesia since the two nations elevated their relationship to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. During meetings with Indonesian leadership, both sides are expected to discuss regional security, economic cooperation, maritime connectivity and cultural exchanges.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is also scheduled to interact with members of the Indian community living in Indonesia. A notable highlight of the visit will be his tour of the historic Prambanan Temple complex alongside President Prabowo, showcasing the deep civilizational links shared by the two countries.
Australia Leg Focused on Defence and Economic Cooperation
Following Indonesia, Narendra Modi will travel to Australia at the invitation of Prime Minister Anthony Albanese.
During his stay in Melbourne, the Indian Prime Minister will engage in high-level talks aimed at expanding cooperation in defence and security, trade and investment, education, mobility, and people-to-people exchanges.
The two leaders are also expected to explore opportunities in critical and emerging technologies, innovation, sports, and sports science. Modi will additionally meet members of the Indian diaspora, recognizing their role in strengthening India-Australia relations.

New Zealand Visit to Enhance Trade and Economic Ties
The final phase of the tour will take Prime Minister Modi to New Zealand, where he will meet Prime Minister Christopher Luxon in Auckland.

The visit follows recent progress in India-New Zealand relations and is expected to further strengthen collaboration across multiple sectors.

A major component of the three-country visit will be Modi’s interaction with overseas Indians.
