The NEET UG 2027 Exam Changes are expected to bring major reforms in the country’s biggest medical entrance examination. The National Testing Agency (NTA) is reportedly planning significant modifications, including conducting the exam in Computer-Based Test (CBT) mode, increasing the number of exam days and reducing the number of examination centres.
According to reports, these changes are being considered after concerns were raised over examination security following the NEET UG paper leak controversy. The proposed reforms aim to make the examination process safer, more transparent and better managed.
NEET UG 2027 May Be Conducted Over 5-6 Days
As per reports, the NTA is planning to conduct NEET UG 2027 over a period of five to six days instead of holding the examination on a single day.
Sources suggest that around five lakh candidates may appear for the exam each day. This approach is expected to reduce pressure on examination infrastructure and help authorities maintain better security arrangements.
Exam Likely to Move Completely Online Through CBT Mode
One of the biggest NEET UG 2027 Exam Changes is the expected shift from the traditional pen-and-paper format to a Computer-Based Test system.
The examination is likely to be conducted at around 1,000 selected centres spread across nearly 500 cities. Till now, NEET UG has generally been conducted on a single day across thousands of centres nationwide.
The move towards CBT mode is aimed at improving monitoring, reducing chances of malpractice and strengthening the overall examination system.
Government Institutions May Get Priority as Exam Centres
Reports suggest that the NTA may select more government institutions as examination centres for NEET UG 2027.
Schools and institutions such as Kendriya Vidyalayas (KVs) and Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas (JNVs) are expected to be prioritised. Only a limited number of established private institutions may be considered for conducting the exam.
NTA Planning Organisational Reforms
Apart from changes in the examination format, the NTA is also reportedly preparing internal organisational reforms. These changes may include recruitment for around 150 posts to improve the agency’s functioning.
The restructuring process is expected to be completed before October, according to reports.

Changes Based on Radhakrishnan Committee Recommendations
The proposed NEET UG 2027 Exam Changes are reportedly based on recommendations made by a seven-member high-powered committee headed by Radhakrishnan.
The committee was formed by the Central government after previous examination-related controversies to suggest measures for improving security, transparency and efficiency in competitive examinations.
Following concerns around paper leaks, the Ministry of Education considered several measures to strengthen the examination system, including shifting major exams towards technology-based formats.
NTA Notification Expected After Final Approval
Once the plan is finalised, the National Testing Agency is expected to release an official notification providing complete details about exam dates, shifts, cities, centres and other important instructions.
Students preparing for NEET UG 2027 are advised to wait for official updates before making any changes to their preparation strategy.
