Saurabh Bharadwaj accuses Delhi’s BJP government of manipulating AQI data and putting residents’ health at risk.
The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has raised serious concerns over the air pollution situation in Delhi, accusing the BJP-led government of allegedly manipulating Air Quality Index (AQI) figures to hide the actual level of pollution in the national capital. AAP Delhi president Saurabh Bharadwaj claimed that misleading pollution data could put residents’ health and lives at risk, particularly those suffering from heart and respiratory problems.
Speaking about the issue, Bharadwaj alleged that Delhi’s air quality had already deteriorated ahead of Diwali, making it difficult for people to breathe comfortably. He questioned the government’s approach to monitoring pollution and claimed that attempts to show lower AQI figures could prevent residents from understanding the actual environmental risks.
According to Bharadwaj, Saurabh Bharadwaj Delhi AQI Data Allegations highlight a serious public safety concern, as people may make decisions about outdoor activities based on pollution readings displayed by government sources, media platforms and mobile applications.
Saurabh Bharadwaj Gives Example of Heart Patient to Highlight Pollution Risks
Explaining his concerns, Bharadwaj presented an example involving a 65-year-old person with an existing heart condition. He said that if such an individual checks the AQI displayed by the government or a mobile application and sees a reading between 150 and 175, they might believe that outdoor conditions are relatively manageable.
The person could then decide to go for a morning walk without realising the actual pollution levels might be significantly higher.
Bharadwaj alleged that the real AQI could be around 450, but that water sprinkling activities were being used to make pollution readings appear lower. These claims were made by the AAP leader while questioning the BJP government’s pollution management measures.
He warned that misleading information about air quality could expose vulnerable residents to dangerous pollution without their knowledge.
Bharadwaj Explains How Severe Air Pollution Can Affect Heart Health
Highlighting the possible health consequences, Bharadwaj said that fine particulate matter present in polluted air can enter the respiratory system and affect the body.
He explained that harmful particles can travel through the lungs and contribute to inflammation and cardiovascular complications. People with existing heart conditions may face additional risks when exposed to severe air pollution.
According to the AAP leader, exposure to highly polluted air could increase the possibility of blood vessel inflammation and clot formation, potentially leading to serious cardiac emergencies.
He cautioned that an elderly person going for a morning walk based on inaccurate AQI information could face a medical emergency without adequate assistance nearby.
Bharadwaj said the alleged manipulation of pollution figures was not merely an administrative issue but a matter directly connected to the safety of Delhi residents.

AAP Demands Action From Rekha Gupta Government
Targeting Chief Minister Rekha Gupta’s BJP government, Bharadwaj alleged that hiding the actual pollution situation could have serious consequences for ordinary families.
He urged the government to stop what he described as misleading AQI reporting and ensure that residents receive accurate information about air quality.
The AAP leader maintained that people should be able to make informed decisions about outdoor activities, particularly during periods of severe pollution.
The Saurabh Bharadwaj Delhi AQI Data Allegations have brought renewed attention to the importance of transparent pollution monitoring and reliable public health information in the national capital.
Kuldeep Kumar Targets BJP Government Over Pollution and Water Supply
Meanwhile, AAP MLA from Kondli, Kuldeep Kumar, also criticised the BJP government over problems related to traffic congestion, air pollution and water supply in Delhi.
Taking a sarcastic dig at Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, Kumar said residents were struggling with pollution and traffic, while people in East Delhi were also facing water-related difficulties.
He particularly raised concerns over the reported disruption in Ganga canal water supply during the Diwali and other Hindu festival period.
Kumar questioned the government’s response to these civic issues and suggested that the administration was not giving sufficient attention to the problems faced by residents.

Continuing his criticism, Kuldeep Kumar made sarcastic remarks about the Chief Minister’s availability and the government’s promises regarding civic improvements.
He said that once the Chief Minister became free, she would supposedly eliminate Delhi’s pollution within an hour and ensure water reached every household.
Kumar also used the comparison of turning Delhi into Japan to mock the government’s claims and highlight what he described as a gap between promises and ground realities.
The Saurabh Bharadwaj Delhi AQI Data Allegations, along with Kuldeep Kumar’s remarks, have intensified AAP’s criticism of the BJP government over pollution control and essential civic services.
The allegations have also renewed the debate over air quality monitoring, access to clean water and the need for effective governance in Delhi. The claims regarding AQI manipulation and water supply require independent verification and a response from the concerned authorities.
