AAP MLA Gopal Italia urges Gujarat CM to start night offices from 2 PM to 9 PM for Mamlatdar, Panchayat, and municipal offices, ensuring citizens don’t need to take leave for government work.
AAP MLA Gopal Italia from Visavadar has written a formal letter to the Chief Minister of Gujarat, urging the state government to extend the working hours of key government offices from 2 PM to 9 PM. The initiative aims to ensure that citizens do not have to take leave from their jobs or businesses to complete routine government-related tasks.
In his letter, Gopal Italia highlighted the challenges faced by the public while visiting various government offices for routine work. Citizens often have to make multiple trips to offices at different administrative levels, resulting in inconvenience and economic loss, especially if their tasks are not completed in a single visit. Italia pointed out that several essential services, including police stations, fire brigades, ST bus stands, toll plazas, and government hospitals, already operate during night hours.
“Given that critical public services remain operational at night, there is no reason why government offices such as Mamlatdar offices, municipalities, taluka panchayats, electricity departments, municipal ward/zone offices, district offices, and village panchayat offices should not also be accessible to citizens until 9 PM,” Gopal Italia stated.
The AAP legislator emphasized that people engaged in full-time employment, business, or farming often cannot visit government offices during regular working hours. Night offices would allow them to complete their essential tasks after work, without affecting their livelihood. He requested the government to prioritize public convenience and implement extended office hours as a permanent policy.
Gopal Italia concluded by stressing that the initiative would significantly reduce the burden on citizens, improve access to public services, and demonstrate a government committed to people-centric governance.
