AAP protests outside Delhi Election Commission office over alleged ‘Vote-Chori’, demanding restoration of deleted votes and resignation of Gyanesh Kumar.
The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) staged a protest outside the Delhi Chief Electoral Officer’s office on Wednesday, alleging large-scale “Vote-Chori” and demanding action over the deletion of voters’ names from electoral rolls. The demonstration was joined by Congress and other Opposition parties, with AAP workers raising slogans against the Election Commission and demanding the restoration of deleted votes.
The protest was organised following a call by AAP Delhi president Saurabh Bharadwaj. AAP MLAs Sanjeev Jha, Jarnail Singh and Kuldeep Kumar, along with a large number of party workers, gathered outside the CEO’s office near Kashmiri Gate. Protesters raised the slogan “Vote Chor, Gaddi Chhod” and criticised the Election Commission over the alleged deletion of voters.
AAP Alleges Vote Deletion in Delhi Election
Addressing the gathering, Saurabh Bharadwaj alleged that the 2025 Delhi Assembly election was affected by the deletion of votes belonging to AAP supporters. He claimed that senior party leaders, including former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, were impacted by the alleged manipulation.
Bharadwaj claimed that Kejriwal’s New Delhi constituency had around 1.45 lakh voters and alleged that nearly 45,000 names were removed from the electoral rolls. He further claimed that Kejriwal eventually lost the constituency by around 4,000 votes.
According to Bharadwaj, the issue has now become a wider national concern, with similar allegations being raised in other parts of the country. The AAP leader also questioned the scale of voter deletions being carried out under the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise in Delhi.
The party has demanded that voters whose names were removed be restored to the electoral rolls. AAP has also called for the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.
Saurabh Bharadwaj Appeals for Opposition Unity
The AAP Delhi chief also addressed the ongoing differences between Opposition parties over protests against alleged voter irregularities. He appealed to Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge to intervene, arguing that differences between Opposition parties could weaken the broader campaign.
Bharadwaj said AAP workers and the party’s student wing had participated in protests held on October 2, October 3 and October 4. He also claimed that several AAP workers and leaders were detained during these demonstrations.
He maintained that AAP would support protests against alleged electoral irregularities regardless of which Opposition organisation organised them.
Sanjeev Jha Calls for Action Against Election Commission
Burari MLA Sanjeev Jha alleged that the Delhi government formed after the 2025 election benefited from the deletion of votes of AAP supporters. He accused the Election Commission of failing to maintain its independence and alleged that the institution was favouring the BJP.

Jha said the AAP’s protest over “Vote-Chori” would continue until the party’s demands were addressed. He also called for action against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar and announced that a larger mobilisation has been planned for October 10.
The AAP MLA further alleged that the alleged manipulation of electoral rolls could have serious consequences for democracy if left unchecked.
Jarnail Singh, Kuldeep Kumar Demand Gyanesh Kumar’s Resignation
AAP MLA Jarnail Singh also targeted the Chief Election Commissioner during the demonstration. He demanded that a case be registered over the allegations and reiterated the party’s call for Gyanesh Kumar’s resignation.
Singh alleged that the BJP government in Delhi had benefited from what AAP describes as “Vote-Chori”. He argued that the controversy would continue to remain a major political issue until the Election Commission responded to the party’s concerns.
AAP MLA Kuldeep Kumar echoed the demand, saying the Chief Election Commissioner must step down. He claimed that thousands of people had gathered outside the Delhi Election Commission office and said the party would continue its campaign until its demands were met.
AAP Says Protest Will Continue
The AAP protest over “Vote-Chori” comes amid a broader Opposition campaign questioning electoral roll changes and the functioning of the Election Commission. The party has repeatedly demanded transparency in the revision of voter lists and restoration of names that it says were wrongly removed.
AAP leaders said their campaign would continue through further protests and political mobilisation. The party has also urged other Opposition groups to come together on the issue instead of allowing differences to weaken the campaign.
For now, the AAP protest over “Vote-Chori” has intensified the political debate in Delhi, with the party demanding accountability from the Election Commission and restoration of allegedly deleted voter names. The issue is expected to remain a key point of confrontation between AAP, the BJP and other Opposition parties in the coming days.
