Yogi Adityanath highlights UP’s new sporting culture, with 470 athletes getting police appointments and 866 more sportspersons in the hiring process.
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has highlighted the state government’s focus on recognising sporting talent and creating employment opportunities for athletes. He said the New Uttar Pradesh is developing a sporting culture where performance, merit and achievement are given priority.
In a post on X, the chief minister said sportspersons are now getting opportunities to enter government service through their sporting achievements. He described this approach as an important indication of the transformation taking place in the state.
Over 800 Sportspersons Set to Get Job Opportunities
Yogi Adityanath announced that appointment letters are being distributed to sportspersons selected through the skilled sportsperson quota in the Uttar Pradesh Police.
A total of 470 athletes are scheduled to receive appointment letters. The selection includes 43 Sub-Inspectors in the Civil Police, 295 Civil Police Constables and 132 Constables in the Provincial Armed Constabulary (PAC).
According to the chief minister, the initiative reflects the government’s effort to connect sporting achievements with stable career opportunities.
Merit at the Centre of New Sporting Culture
Yogi Adityanath said the New Uttar Pradesh is witnessing a positive change in its sporting environment since 2017. According to him, athletes are increasingly being recognised for their performance rather than having to depend on recommendations or influence.
He said sporting merit, recognition of achievements and opportunities to contribute to the nation through government service together form the foundation of the New Uttar Pradesh sporting culture.

Yogi Adityanath said more than 534 sportspersons have so far been directly recruited across different government departments. At the same time, another 866 sportspersons are currently in the process of being recruited.
The figures, according to the chief minister, demonstrate the government’s effort to create a direct connection between sporting talent and employment.
Focus on Talent and Employment
The chief minister said opening government employment opportunities for athletes represents an important aspect of the state’s transformation. He emphasised that talented sportspersons should have pathways that allow them to continue their careers while also securing long-term employment.
The policy is part of the government’s broader emphasis on sports, employment and recognition of achievement. The administration has described this approach as a shift towards a system where performance and talent play a central role.
Government Links Sports with a Secure Future
Yogi Adityanath said the “double-engine” government has worked to connect sporting talent with employment opportunities and a secure future.
With hundreds of athletes already recruited and hundreds more undergoing the hiring process, the government is seeking to strengthen the link between success on the field and career opportunities.
The latest appointments further underline the sports-focused employment policy that the government says is shaping the New Uttar Pradesh. The emphasis remains on recognising achievements, rewarding talent and providing sportspersons with opportunities to serve the state and the nation.
