Bigg Boss 20 contestant Gullu reveals his secret arranged marriage lasted just 4.5 to 5 months and opens up about his 2024 divorce and personal struggles.

Bigg Boss 20 contestant Kushal Tanwar, popularly known as Gullu, has made a surprising revelation about his personal life. During a recent episode of the reality show, the actor and reality TV personality opened up about his divorce and revealed that he had been in an arranged marriage that lasted only around four to five months.

The revelation came during an emotional conversation with Qazi Touqeer, where Gullu spoke about the difficult phase he went through before gaining recognition through reality television. His candid confession gave viewers a glimpse into a part of his life that he had largely kept away from the public eye.

Bigg Boss 20: Gullu talks about his divorce

Gullu revealed that he went through a divorce in 2024. Recalling that period, he explained that his experience was different from a conventional breakup and that the decision had been particularly difficult because of the social environment around him.

According to Gullu, he had gone through a major personal crisis but eventually managed to overcome the difficult phase. He also said that he had to make a decision for himself despite knowing that people around him might not understand or support it.

The Bigg Boss 20 contestant further explained that he comes from a background where young men often face considerable family and social pressure to get married at an early age.

His arranged marriage lasted around five months

Speaking about his marriage, Gullu revealed that it was arranged and lasted approximately four and a half to five months. He said that marriage can sometimes become an expectation for young people, particularly when they are not yet settled in their careers.

Gullu also explained that he chose not to discuss his marriage openly because he feared that people would turn the matter into gossip or make jokes about it. The experience eventually led him to distance himself from others for some time.

However, he said that he gradually learned to enjoy his own company and move forward in life.

Wedding photo was leaked after Roadies

Gullu also recalled how his private life became public after a photograph from his wedding was allegedly leaked. He said that he had deliberately kept his marriage away from the spotlight because of the attention surrounding reality shows.

According to his account, a wedding photograph surfaced in a professional WhatsApp group after his stint on Roadies had ended. At that point, his marriage was already going through difficulties, although the divorce had not yet been finalized.

He said the leaked picture quickly spread and affected several aspects of his professional and personal life.

Family initially stopped talking to him

Gullu further revealed that the situation also created tension within his family. He said his decision to end the marriage upset his relatives, who were concerned about how society would react.

According to him, some members of his family initially distanced themselves from him. The situation continued for nearly a year before things gradually improved.

Gullu said that his family eventually understood his decision and is now proud of how he has rebuilt his life.

Gullu’s journey in reality television

The Bigg Boss 20 contestant first gained wider recognition through Roadies XX. He went on to win the reality show in June 2025, which helped establish him as a prominent name in the reality television space.

He later participated in Splitsvilla 16 and emerged as the winner in May this year. Following the show, he was reportedly in a relationship with his Splitsvilla partner Kaira Anu. However, the two eventually parted ways after dating for a few months.

Gullu also added another achievement to his reality-show journey in July when he won the comedy-cooking show Maa Hai Na.
