Target to make 77 Gramme Panchayats of Durg free of malnutrition
An ambitious target has been set to make 77 Gramme Panchayats of Durg district malnutrition free. In this direction, the story of Gramme Panchayat Karela is inspiring. A few months ago, Yaksha, a child registered at the Anganwadi Centre 1 in Karela, was suffering from moderate malnutrition. He weighed only 9.8 kg, and was dependent on unhealthy packaged food, excluding home food.
Chief Minister’s Child Reference Scheme changed the picture
Yaksha underwent a health check-up under the Chief Minister’s Child Reference Scheme, which marked the beginning of a change in her life. Anganwadi worker Mrs. Durgeshwari Verma and supervisor Mrs. Mamta Sahu explained the importance of nutrition to Yaksha’s parents and taught them the method of preparing nutritious food through home methods. Village Sarpanch Dr. Rajesh Banchor provided nutritious items like pulses, jaggery, and groundnuts under the Poshan Khazana Yojana. This led to a major change in Yaksha’s health. After being sent to the regular anganwadi centre, Yaksha developed an interest in food. The atmosphere of group meals, sprouts in the morning, ready-to-eat nutritious food and food prepared with the affection of the mother gave a new direction to her health. Today the weight of the Yaksha has increased to 11.5 kg and the length to 89cm. He is now fully fed. Her glowing eyes and a blossoming smile on her face are testifying not only to her health, but also to the bright future of the new Chhattisgarh.
The family thanked the government.
Yaksha’s family expressed gratitude to the government. “This timely help gave a new lease of life to our child. Had it not been for this help, perhaps our yaksha would still be weak and sick.
A step towards a well-nourished Chhattisgarh
The story of Yaksha is not just of one child, but of all the children of Chhattisgarh, for whom the schemes of the government are bringing new light in life. This campaign of malnutrition-free Chhattisgarh is not only improving the health of children but is also laying the foundation of a healthy and prosperous future.
