CM Bhajan Lal Sharma said that Rajasthan needs water the most. That is why our government has worked on important projects like ERCP, Yamuna Jal Samjhauta, Indira Gandhi Canal, Mahi Dam and Dewas. He said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, the work of water conservation is being done in Rajasthan through the Karma Bhoomi to Matri Bhoomi campaign. At the same time, our government has done historic work towards water availability and water conservation in the state in the last one and a half years.
CM Bhajan Lal Sharma was addressing a public meeting on the occasion of World Environment Day and Ganga Dussehra at Keshoraypatan in Bundi on Thursday under the ‘Vande Ganga’ Jal Sanrakshan – Jan Abhiyan. He said that under this campaign, the work of collecting water in ponds, puddles, lakes and dams has been started with the participation of the general public. This will increase the ground water level and ensure water availability to the people.
The Chief Minister offered prayers to the river.
CM Bhajan Lal Sharma said that water is an important requirement for developed Rajasthan. He said that environment conservation has a special significance in our culture. We worship trees, mountains and rivers. He offered prayers to Chambal Maa (River Charmanyavati) at Keshav Ghat duly chanting mantras under the ‘Vande Ganga’ water conservation-people’s campaign. He also participated in the Chuni Festival. The Chunri offered by the Chief Minister was carried from Keshav Ghat to Rangpur Ghat on the Chambal river through boat and boats. Earlier, Sharma offered prayers at the Keshav Rai temple and prayed for the prosperity and well-being of the state. During this, the priests of the temple gave him a congratulatory letter for the initiative of ‘Vande Ganga’ water conservation-people’s campaign.
Major source of drinking water and irrigation –
CM Bhajan Lal Sharma said that Chambal is not only a river for Rajasthan but also a major source of drinking water and irrigation for crores of people. Electricity is also being generated from the dams built on it. He said that with the water of Chambal, more than 2 lakh 29 thousand hectare area is being irrigated in Kota, Baran and Bundi. In its basin, the Parwan Mega Irrigation Project is being taken up at a cost of Rs 7,355 crore, which will create an irrigated area of more than 2 lakh hectares in Kota, Baran and Jhalawar districts.
About 40 thousand hectares of new irrigated area will be developed in Dholpur –
The Chief Minister said that work on the Dholpur Lift Irrigation Project on the Chambal river is underway, which will develop about 40 thousand hectares of new irrigated area in Dholpur district. Work will be done to fill the water deficit Parvati Dam and Ramsagar Dam in Dholpur district by lifting the surplus water of Chambal River during the monsoon. Therefore, to save and conserve rivers and other water sources like Chambal, a new initiative has been taken in the form of ‘Vande Ganga’ Jal Sanrakshan – Jan Abhiyan.
The message of water conservation reached villages and cities –
CM Bhajan Lal Sharma said that under the ‘Vande Ganga “water conservation – Jan Abhiyan, water harvesting structures will be constructed, cleaning of water sources will be taken up and traditional water bodies will be restored. The campaign will be carried out across the state till June 20. He said that it is our endeavour that the message of water conservation reaches every village, every city and every person and Rajasthan becomes an example of water conservation efforts in the entire country.
The Chief Minister said that through the Ramjal Setu Link Project, the water needs of 17 districts would be met and more than 4 lakh hectares would be irrigated. He said water from Ramgarh (Cool river), Mahalpur (Parvati river) and Navnera (Kalisindh river) barrages would be brought to Bisalpur and Isarda dams. At the same time, the Shekhawati region will also get Yamuna water.
Prime Minister’s Vision – Catch the Rain and Karmabhoomi to Mathrubhumi Campaign
CM Bhajan Lal Sharma said that to promote environment conservation, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi launched ‘Ek Vridh Maa Ke Naam “campaign. Our government also planted more than 7 crore saplings last year. At the same time, a target has been set to plant 10 crore saplings in the state this year. He said that with the vision of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, Catch the Rain and Karmabhoomi to Mathrubhumi campaign is being run in the state. At the same time, people have also ensured their participation in the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan launched by him.
Shri Heeralal Nagar, Minister of State (I / C) for Power said that CM Bhajan Lal Sharma is continuously working for water availability in the State. He said that the Navnera Dam built on the Kalisindh river will provide drinking water and irrigation water to the Kota-Bundi area. At the same time, the water needs of the common people will also be met through ERCP and Yamuna Water Agreement.
On this occasion, MLA Najar Singh Manshahia, DC Mohinderpal, SDM Sagar Setia, Chairman Zila Parishad Bikram Mofar, Chairman Market Committee Gian Chand Singla, Kulwant Rai Singla, Ranjit Kaur Bhatti and Chairman Block Samiti Karamjit Kaur were also present.
