Rajasthan CM Bhajanlal Sharma launches the Self-Enumeration link for Census 2027. Learn how to fill your details online and avoid cyber fraud.
In a significant digital leap for the state, Rajasthan is set to commence the first phase of Census 2027 on May 1. Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma on Wednesday took to social media platform ‘X’ to urge citizens to participate actively. For the first time in history, the government has introduced a “Self-Enumeration” facility, allowing residents to fill in their details via mobile or a web portal before the field staff visits their homes.
CM Shares Direct Link for Self-Enumeration
Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma shared the official portal link se.census.gov.in to facilitate a smoother experience for the public. According to the CM, the self-enumeration window for Census 2027 will remain open from May 1 to May 15, 2026.
The Chief Minister highlighted that accurate data collection is the cornerstone for the “Viksit Rajasthan” (Developed Rajasthan) vision. By completing the process online, citizens can save time and ensure their records are precise before verification officers begin house-to-house visits from May 16 to June 14, 2026.
33 Questions to Define the Future
The first phase of Census 2027 focuses on house-listing and housing conditions. Enumerators will verify information based on 33 specific questions, which include:
The material used for the house (walls, floor, and roof).
Ownership status and the number of living rooms.
Access to drinking water, electricity, and sanitation facilities.
Type of cooking fuel used (LPG/PNG).
Ownership of assets like smartphones, laptops, cars, and internet connectivity.
Primary cereal consumed by the family.
By providing this data during the Census 2027 phase, the government aims to tailor welfare schemes more effectively to reach the needy.

Guarding Against Cyber Fraud
With the digitization of the Census 2027 process, authorities have issued a stern warning against cybercriminals. The administration has clarified that genuine census officials will only ask for your mobile number or the SE ID generated after self-enumeration.
Important Note: No official will ever ask for an OTP (One-Time Password) or banking details. If anyone requests an OTP in the name of the census, it is a clear sign of fraud, and citizens are advised not to share any sensitive information.
Impact on Government Employees
To execute this massive national task, Rajasthan has deployed approximately 1.6 lakh employees, primarily from the Education Department. As per Bishnu Charan Mallick, Director of the Directorate of Census Operations, the staff engaged in this phase will also carry out the second phase scheduled for February 2027. Consequently, teachers awaiting transfers may face a significant delay as all administrative shifts are likely on hold until the Census 2027 duties are fulfilled.
