CM Yogi Adityanath praises over one lakh farmers for providing land for the Ganga Expressway. PM Modi inaugurates the 594-km Meerut-Prayagraj corridor.
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Wednesday extended his heartfelt gratitude to the farming community, stating that over one lakh farmers gave land for Ganga Expressway to make the ambitious infrastructure project a reality. Speaking at a high-profile event in Hardoi, the Chief Minister emphasized that without the voluntary support of the state’s Annadatas (providers), the timely completion of this massive corridor would not have been possible.
A Vision Realized: PM Modi Inaugurates the Corridor
The 594-kilometre access-controlled corridor, connecting Meerut to Prayagraj, was officially inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. During the ceremony, it was highlighted that the Ganga Expressway now stands as a testament to the “Double Engine” government’s commitment to rapid development.
The Chief Minister noted that the foundation stone was laid by PM Modi in December 2021, and the project has been successfully completed within the targeted timeframe, setting a new benchmark for infrastructure execution in India.
Massive Land Acquisition and Industrial Growth
The scale of the project is unprecedented in the state’s history. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath shared key figures regarding the land contribution:
Acreage: Nearly 18,000 acres were acquired specifically for the main corridor of the Ganga Expressway.
Industrial Vision: An additional 7,000 acres have been earmarked for industrial clusters and logistics hubs along the route.
Farmer Participation: More than one lakh farmers gave land for Ganga Expressway, ensuring that the project spanned across 12 districts without significant hurdles.
The CM pointed out that this land acquisition process was handled with transparency, ensuring that farmers were partners in the state’s progress rather than just bystanders.

The Economic Backbone of Uttar Pradesh
According to Adityanath, the Ganga Expressway is not merely a road but the “backbone” of Uttar Pradesh’s future economic growth. By connecting the western part of the state to the eastern region, the expressway is expected to:
Drastically reduce travel time between Meerut and Prayagraj.
Foster industrial expansion in previously underserved rural areas.
Generate thousands of direct and indirect employment opportunities for local youth.
“This project is a giant leap toward the vision of a Viksit Bharat (Developed India),” the CM stated, adding that the logistics hubs along the Ganga Expressway would turn Uttar Pradesh into a premier investment destination.
Dignitaries in Attendance
The inauguration ceremony was a star-studded administrative event. Alongside PM Modi and CM Yogi Adityanath, the program was attended by Governor Anandiben Patel, Deputy Chief Ministers Keshav Prasad Maurya and Brajesh Pathak, and Union Minister Pankaj Chaudhary. Their presence underscored the national importance of the Ganga Expressway in India’s shifting infrastructure landscape.
