CM Pushkar Singh Dhami reiterated Uttarakhand’s goal to lead India in sustainable development and good governance at the SDG Achievers Awards in Almora.
Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has once again reiterated his commitment to making Uttarakhand a leading state in sustainable development goals (SDGs) and good governance across India. Speaking at the state-level SDG Achievers Award ceremony, the Chief Minister highlighted the continuous progress being made by the state in various development sectors.
The event was held at the Uday Shankar Academy of Dance and Music in Almora, where CM Dhami honored 32 organizations, individuals, and groups for their outstanding contributions across multiple fields. Additionally, six districts were recognized for their strong performance in the district-level SDG rankings.
Innovation Driving Positive Social Change
CM Pushkar Singh Dhami praised the awardees for their innovative and impactful work, stating that they have created meaningful social change despite limited resources. He emphasized that such efforts serve as an inspiration for society at large.
He further noted that balancing development with environmental protection remains a major challenge for a Himalayan state like Uttarakhand. However, the government is consistently working on a balanced “Ecology and Economy” model to ensure sustainable growth.
Progress Toward 2030 SDG Targets
The Chief Minister highlighted that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, India is moving rapidly toward achieving the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals. He also pointed out that Uttarakhand has shown remarkable progress in national SDG rankings.
According to him, the state has moved from 10th position in the NITI Aayog SDG India Index to securing the top position in the country, marking a significant milestone in governance and development performance.

Strong Economic and Social Indicators
CM Pushkar Singh Dhami also shared key development indicators reflecting Uttarakhand’s progress:
State GDP has increased by 7.23%
Per capita income has grown by 4.1%
Unemployment rate has reduced significantly by 4.4%
He stated that these achievements are the result of consistent policy reforms, governance improvements, and focused development strategies.
District-Level SDG Rankings Announced
In the district-level SDG rankings, Rudraprayag secured the first position. Uttarkashi and Nainital jointly ranked second, while Bageshwar, Chamoli, and Tehri shared the third position.
Central Minister Praises Uttarakhand’s Achievement
Union Minister of State Ajay Tamta stated that Uttarakhand achieving the top position in SDG rankings is the result of the strong vision and commitment of both the Prime Minister and the Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami .

The ceremony was attended by Principal Secretary Planning Dr. R. Meenakshi Sundaram, District Magistrate Anshul Singh, senior officials, public representatives, and a large number of attendees.
