CM Nitish Kumar today inspected the progress of construction works of Patna Metro Rail Project. He visited the under-construction sites near Gandhi Maidan, PMCH and Patna University. The officials briefed him in detail about the current status and progress of the project. At the same time, the status of construction works of Rajendra Nagar, Moinul Haque Stadium, Majhi Pakri, Khemnichak, Pahari, Zero Mile Metro Station and ISBT Metro Station was also briefed.
During the inspection, CM Nitish Kumar gave necessary directions to the officials and stressed on speedy completion of the project within the stipulated time frame. He said that with the start of Metro, people will get easy transportation and will get relief from congestion.
The Patna Metro Rail Project was approved on February 27, 2019. Under this project, a 31.9 -km-long metro rail line is to be constructed, with a total of 24 stations proposed. It is being implemented by the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation, while the supervision is being done by the Urban Development and Housing Department of the Government of Bihar. The work of Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM) was started from Gandhi Maidan station on 21st November 2023 for the construction of underground metro line which has reached Patna station via Akashwani underground station.
The 6.01 km long metro line from Majhi Pakdi to Khemnichak, Bhootnath Road, Zero Mile and Patliputra Bus Terminal is being developed on priority basis, which is targeted to be commissioned by 15th August 2025.
