CM Rekha Gupta presents Delhi Budget 2026-27: Women to receive ₹2,500 monthly, ₹5,100 crore for Women Honor Scheme, focus on education, health, and development.
Delhi CM Rekha Gupta presented the city’s budget for the financial year 2026-27, announcing several landmark initiatives for women and social welfare. As part of the new budget, women in Delhi will receive ₹2,500 every month, and the Women Honor Scheme has been allocated ₹5,100 crore.
The total budget of ₹1,03,700 crore has been prepared as a ‘Green Budget,’ with special focus on education, health, senior citizens, newborns, and women. CM Rekha Gupta emphasized that the government is committed to empowering Delhi’s women and fulfilling election promises made by the BJP regarding women’s financial support.
As part of social welfare, the Women and Child Development sector has been allocated ₹7,406 crore, and ₹406 crore has been earmarked to provide free bus travel for women and transgender individuals. In addition, the Delhi Lakhpati Scheme has been launched to support girls from birth to graduation, depositing a total of ₹1.2 lakh in their accounts post-graduation.
During her budget speech, CM Rekha Gupta highlighted that on festive occasions like Holi, ₹853 was deposited into women’s accounts, and ₹260 crore has been allocated for free gas cylinders during Holi and Diwali. ₹450 crore has been set aside for free travel for women.
Infrastructure and urban development have also been prioritized in the budget. The Public Works Department (PWD) has been allocated ₹5,921 crore, urban development ₹7,887 crore, Yamunanagar ₹300 crore, slum development ₹800 crore, rural development ₹787 crore, and development departments ₹914 crore.

The PWD has been tasked with developing 7,000 kilometers of roads with brick and concrete construction, with an expenditure of ₹1,392 crore. An additional ₹350 crore has been allocated for development in MLAs’ constituencies, and ₹186 crore for NDMC and Delhi Cantonment areas.
CM Rekha Gupta emphasized that 21% of the total budget has been dedicated to environmental protection, reinforcing the green budget approach. Non-tax revenue is expected to contribute ₹900 crore, ₹591 crore will come from the Central Road Fund, and around ₹2,500 crore is expected from various central government schemes. Overall, 70.3% of the budget has been earmarked for revenue expenditure.
With this budget, CM Rekha Gupta aims to ensure women’s financial empowerment, strengthen social welfare, improve infrastructure, and drive sustainable development in Delhi, making the capital more inclusive and progressive.
