Dungarpur Police launches the Mahila Youth CLG initiative to boost women’s safety, awareness and community participation, with over 2,200 people joining.
The Dungarpur Police in Rajasthan has launched a new community-based initiative aimed at strengthening the safety and awareness of women and girls. The Mahila Youth CLG initiative seeks to build stronger communication between women and the police while encouraging greater public participation in local safety matters.
According to the police, more than 2,200 people have joined the campaign so far, including around 300 women and girls who are now associated with the women-focused community contact group.
New platform to connect women with police
The initiative is designed to create a local network through which women can directly raise safety-related concerns with the police. The Mahila Youth CLG is being developed as a bridge between the community and law enforcement, with an emphasis on communication, cooperation and trust.
Under the initiative, members will also help women and girls in their respective areas understand their legal rights and encourage them to seek police assistance whenever required.
Meetings held across four police circles
Under the direction of Dungarpur Superintendent of Police Manish Kumar, meetings with members of the Mahila Youth CLG were organised on September 2, 2026, at the district headquarters and all four circle offices in the district.
Women representatives, young women and police officials discussed various issues related to women’s safety during the meetings. Police officials said the objective is to strengthen coordination with local communities and ensure that safety concerns are communicated effectively to the authorities.

Focus on legal awareness and cybercrime
Several important issues concerning women and child safety were discussed during the meetings. Women were informed about legal provisions such as Zero FIR, the Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
The discussions also covered domestic violence, harassment, cybercrime, crimes committed through social media, online fraud and the safety of girls.
Police officials informed participants about emergency assistance through 112 and the women’s helpline 1090. Women were urged not to remain silent in cases of violence, harassment or threats and to contact the police without delay.
Women suggest more CCTV cameras
Members of the Mahila Youth CLG also highlighted safety-related problems from their respective areas. One of the key suggestions was to increase CCTV surveillance on major roads and at important intersections.
Participants also called for stronger CCTV monitoring around schools and colleges. They suggested maintaining regular coordination between police officials and community members to respond more effectively to women’s safety concerns.
Police calls women’s safety a shared responsibility
During the meetings, police officials emphasised that protecting women cannot be the responsibility of law enforcement alone. Community participation is equally important in identifying local problems, spreading awareness and preventing crime.
The Mahila Youth CLG is intended to encourage women and young people to participate actively in safety-related efforts while helping them understand their rights and the support systems available to them.
Over 2,200 people connected with the campaign
According to Dungarpur Police, more than 2,200 people have joined the women’s safety and awareness campaign so far. Around 300 women and girls have specifically joined the Mahila Youth CLG network and are working in coordination with the police.
The police plans to strengthen the network further in the coming days so that community participation in women and child safety can increase and people in need can receive assistance more quickly.
