England delivered a spectacular performance in the second T20I against South Africa at Old Trafford, Manchester, on September 12, posting a massive 304 runs in their innings.
The team’s innings was anchored by Phil Salt, who scored an unbeaten 141, and Jos Buttler, who contributed 83 runs.
With this total, England set a new record for the highest T20I score against a full-member nation, surpassing India’s previous mark of 297 against Bangladesh. They also became just the third team in T20I history to cross the 300-run mark in an innings. England then restricted South Africa to 158, securing a dominant 146-run victory in one of the most memorable performances in T20I history.
South Africa, meanwhile, faced a tough outing, becoming the first full-member nation to concede 300 runs in a T20I. The chase never got going, with Aiden Markram and Ryan Rickelton scoring 41 and 20, respectively, while the rest of the batting lineup faltered, leaving the Proteas at 158.
The win leveled the series 1-1, setting up an exciting decider in the third T20I at Trent Bridge, Nottingham, on September 14, where both teams will aim to deliver their best performances.
