Esha Gupta stranded Abu Dhabi amid US-Iran conflict returns safely to India. Read her harrowing account and how authorities managed the crisis.
Bollywood actress Esha Gupta stranded Abu Dhabi has finally returned to India after facing unprecedented travel disruptions in the UAE caused by the recent escalation in the US-Iran conflict. The actress, who had been stuck in Abu Dhabi for several days, shared her harrowing experience and praised the efficient management by authorities and airport staff during the tense period.
Esha Gupta revealed that she was stranded in Abu Dhabi on February 28, when airports across the UAE were abruptly closed following missile strikes by the United States and Israel targeting Iran. “By 1 pm, the airport was closed, chaos everywhere, and none of us knew what was happening,” she wrote in a detailed Instagram post. She added that passengers were left uncertain about what the next minute would hold, with people consoling strangers and anxiously contacting family members back home.
Despite the panic, Esha Gupta noted the exemplary handling of the situation by UAE authorities. The ground staff, airport security, and hotel management worked tirelessly to ensure stranded passengers were accommodated safely. “Passengers were provided cash for food, and hotels were arranged for everyone without delay. The professionalism and calmness of the staff were truly remarkable,” Esha said, highlighting the solidarity and swift response of UAE officials.

The actress eventually boarded the first commercial Etihad flight from Abu Dhabi to Delhi on March 2, marking her safe return. She expressed gratitude towards both the UAE and Indian governments for their efforts in facilitating the return of stranded citizens. “Thank you to everyone helping people get back home. Your country is truly special,” she added.
The incident came amid a sudden escalation of hostilities in the Middle East, following joint airstrikes from Israel and the US on Iran, which resulted in retaliatory attacks on US bases in the region, including the UAE and Doha. The unexpected escalation created global aviation chaos, with airports shutting down, airspace closures, and hundreds of flights cancelled or diverted.
In response, the UAE’s civil aviation authority initiated special flights to help stranded passengers, including a limited resumption at Dubai International Airport (DXB) and Dubai World Central – Al Maktoum International (DWC). Travelers were advised to only proceed to airports if contacted directly by airlines with confirmed departure times.
Esha Gupta’s ordeal underscores the challenges faced by international travelers amid geopolitical crises. Her account of being Esha Gupta stranded Abu Dhabi reflects both the human vulnerability in unexpected crises and the resilience shown by authorities and citizens during tense global events.
