AAP releases a 14-point guarantee letter for the Gandhinagar Municipal Corporation Election, focusing on education, healthcare, water, jobs and civic facilities.
The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has released a public welfare guarantee letter for the upcoming Gandhinagar Municipal Corporation Election, outlining its proposed priorities for the city and its residents. The document covers 14 key areas, including education, healthcare, water supply, employment, transportation, sanitation, environment and civic services.
The guarantee letter was released in the presence of AAP Gujarat leaders, including state vice presidents Gauri Desai and Kailashdan Gadhvi, state organisation secretary Vikram Dave and state organisation secretary and chief spokesperson Dr Karan Barot.
The Gujarat State Election Commission has scheduled the Gandhinagar Municipal Corporation polls for October 11, 2026, with counting scheduled for October 13. The corporation has 11 wards and 44 corporator seats.
AAP Lists 14 Areas in Its Guarantee Letter
Speaking at the event, AAP state vice president Gauri Desai said the party’s guarantee letter focuses on 14 broad areas concerning Gandhinagar residents.
These include education, healthcare, water and public amenities, employment and economic development, taxation and civic relief, public transport, parking and road safety, women and child safety, development of farmers and rural areas, environment and cleanliness, sports and cultural development, animal-related services, fire safety and disaster management, transparency and accountability, and social justice and prohibition.
Desai said the party intends to take these commitments to residents through door-to-door outreach and public engagement.
AAP has also referred to its performance in the previous Gandhinagar civic election, when the party said it received around 22 per cent of the vote. The party has said it is preparing to expand its organisational presence ahead of the upcoming Gandhinagar Municipal Corporation Election.
Focus on Water, Drainage and Civic Services
AAP leaders highlighted water supply, sewage management, drainage and flooding as major civic issues in Gandhinagar.
Gauri Desai said the party would focus on addressing problems related to basic public infrastructure. She also raised concerns about waterlogging after rainfall and sewage-related issues in parts of the city.
Kailashdan Gadhvi separately alleged that shortcomings in sewage infrastructure have affected residents. These claims were made by AAP leaders at the press conference and represent the party’s assessment of the existing civic system.
Gadhvi said that providing clean drinking water, effective sewage management and basic civic amenities would be among AAP’s priorities.
Employment and Rural Development Included
The AAP guarantee letter also gives attention to employment, economic development and the development of villages and rural areas associated with Gandhinagar.
The party said urban development should be accompanied by better infrastructure and public services in surrounding rural areas. Employment opportunities and economic activity have also been listed among the areas where the party says it intends to work.
The Gandhinagar Municipal Corporation Election campaign is therefore expected to feature several local issues, including water, roads, drainage, cleanliness, employment and public amenities.

Environment and Green Cover
Environmental protection is another major component of the guarantee letter.
Gadhvi claimed that Gandhinagar’s green character has been affected by tree cutting linked to development activities. He said AAP would seek to give greater attention to greenery and environmental protection if it gets an opportunity to govern the civic body.
The party has included environment and cleanliness as separate priorities in its 14-point document.
AAP Highlights Organisational Expansion
AAP state organisation secretary Vikram Dave said the party has been working on strengthening its organisation after the wider Gujarat local-body elections held earlier this year.
Dave claimed that AAP has been working to address organisational gaps and expand its presence up to the booth level. He also referred to the party’s previous vote share in Gandhinagar.
According to reported 2021 election results, the BJP won 41 of the 44 Gandhinagar Municipal Corporation seats, while Congress won two and AAP won one.
AAP has separately stated that its sole corporator from that election remained with the party, while Congress councillors later moved to the BJP.
Chaitar Vasava Issue Also Raised
During the press conference, Kailashdan Gadhvi was also asked about AAP MLA Chaitar Vasava.
Gadhvi described Vasava as a tribal leader and said AAP considers the case against him to be politically motivated. These remarks were presented as the party’s position on the matter.
AAP leaders also said that the party would continue raising issues concerning citizens and local governance during the Gandhinagar Municipal Corporation Election campaign.
Civic Development Remains a Key Election Issue
The guarantee letter places civic infrastructure and public services at the centre of AAP’s campaign. Education, healthcare, water supply, roads, drainage, sanitation, environment, transportation and accountability feature prominently in the party’s stated priorities.
The Gandhinagar Municipal Corporation Election will be held across 11 wards with 44 seats up for election. The election notification is scheduled to be issued on September 21, while the last date for filing nominations is September 26.
AAP has said it will take its 14-point agenda to residents through its organisational network and public outreach as the election campaign progresses.
