Silver Price Today
Silver also experienced a decline on January 17. In India, silver was trading at ₹2,91,900 per kilogram, while the international spot price fell to $90.33 per ounce. Previously, silver had touched a record high of $93.57 per ounce. The drop came after the US government avoided imposing new import duties on silver and other essential metals.
Despite this short-term dip, domestic silver prices have risen 22.4% so far in 2026.
Why Gold and Silver Prices Fell
The decline in gold and silver comes amid weak US inflation data, which has strengthened expectations of a potential interest rate cut by the Federal Reserve. Lower interest rates typically boost demand for safe-haven assets like gold and silver. Additionally, reduced geopolitical tensions and strong industrial demand support moderate market corrections.
Investors looking for gold and silver opportunities should keep track of daily rates, exchange schemes, and bank offers to maximize potential gains.
