AAP MLA Gopal Italia will join Isudan Gadhvi’s ‘Declare Drought’ Satyagraha in Khambhaliya on September 1, demanding drought relief for Gujarat farmers.
Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Visavadar MLA Gopal Italia has announced that he will join the ongoing Satyagraha in Khambhaliya on September 1, 2026. The protest is being led by AAP Gujarat leader Isudan Gadhvi, who is demanding that the Gujarat government officially declare a drought and provide relief to farmers and other affected communities.
Italia said he will reach Khambhaliya at around 11 am along with farmers and party leaders from Visavadar, Bhesan and Junagadh. He said the group will extend full support to Isudan Gadhvi’s campaign and stand with farmers facing difficulties due to inadequate rainfall.
Gopal Italia to Stand With Farmers
Announcing his participation, Gopal Italia organisers said the initiative is aimed at highlighting the problems being faced by farmers, livestock owners and agricultural labourers across Gujarat, particularly in the Saurashtra region.
According to Italia, rainfall has remained extremely low in several parts of the state. The lack of adequate water has created uncertainty for farmers who have already spent money on seeds, fertilisers, irrigation and labour. With rainfall remaining insufficient, many farmers fear they may not be able to recover even their basic cultivation expenses.
Concern Over Farmers, Livestock Owners and Labourers
Italia said the impact of the rainfall shortage is not limited to farmers. Agricultural labourers are also facing a loss of employment because farming activities have been affected.

At the same time, livestock owners are reportedly facing difficulties in arranging adequate fodder for their animals. Italia argued that these three groups are closely connected to the agricultural economy and require immediate government assistance.
He said declaring a drought and providing relief on that basis is the appropriate step to address the situation.
Isudan Gadhvi’s Continued Campaign
The Gopal Italia support comes as Isudan Gadhvi continues his campaign for a formal drought declaration in Gujarat. Italia praised Gadhvi for consistently raising farmers’ concerns.
He pointed out that Gadhvi had spoken about farmers’ issues during his years in journalism and has continued to raise similar concerns after entering politics.
Appeal for Wider Support
Italia said he and his team will travel to Khambhaliya to support the ongoing protest and stand with farmers demanding government intervention. He also appealed to people and AAP workers from across Gujarat to support the campaign.
The Gopal Italia is expected to draw attention to the rainfall situation in Saurashtra and the economic difficulties facing communities dependent on agriculture.
For the protesters, the key demand remains a government declaration of drought along with appropriate relief measures for farmers, livestock owners and agricultural workers.
As Gopal Italia gains support from local AAP leaders and workers, the issue of rainfall deficiency and drought relief is likely to remain a significant political and agricultural concern in Gujarat.
