Gopal Italia presents five key issues from Visavadar & Saurashtra to CM, urging budget provisions for farmers, students, traders, and industrial development.
Visavadar MLA and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Gopal Italia has taken a proactive step to address the key concerns of his constituency and the wider Saurashtra region. Ahead of the upcoming state budget, he submitted a memorandum to Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, along with relevant ministers and officials, highlighting five major issues that need urgent attention.
Speaking to the media, Gopal Italia emphasized that the February state budget should include provisions that directly benefit farmers, laborers, traders, students, and youth of Visavadar, Junagadh, and the entire Saurashtra region. “We hope the government will take positive action on these five critical issues,” he said.
1. Industrial Development in Bhesan Taluka
Gopal Italia highlighted that Bhesan Taluka is rapidly growing industrially, with hardworking entrepreneurs establishing new businesses. However, the absence of a GIDC (Gujarat Industrial Development Corporation) unit in the area has limited infrastructure support, subsidies, and loan facilities. He requested the government to establish a GIDC in Bhesan to boost industrial growth and provide significant benefits to local business owners.

2. Public Library for Students in Visavadar
With 4,000–5,000 students pursuing college and higher secondary education annually in Bhesan Taluka, there is no public library available to support their studies. Gopal Italia urged the government to set up a modern, well-organized library in Visavadar as part of the upcoming budget to help students access quality learning resources.
3. Agro-Based Industrial Development in Junagadh
Junagadh is a predominantly agriculture and livestock-based district, producing crops such as peanuts, onions, soybeans, pigeon peas, guava, and custard apples. Despite this, there are inadequate facilities for value addition. Gopal Italia recommended budget provisions to establish cold storage units, dairy plants, food processing units, and oil extraction facilities to ensure high-quality agricultural products from Junagadh reach the wider Gujarat market.
4. Compensation for Mango Crop Loss
In Junagadh and Amreli districts, mango cultivation is significant, yet losses from damaged crops are not recognized under the crop damage compensation scheme. Gopal Italia demanded that mango crops be included in the compensation category to ensure farmers receive adequate relief in case of losses.
5. 24-Hour Electricity for Farmers in Remote Areas
Highlighting a critical issue affecting remote farmers across Saurashtra, including Jamnagar, Devbhumi Dwarka, Rajkot Rural, Gir Somnath, and Amreli, Gopal Italia stressed the need for 24-hour electricity connections to farmers’ homes located on agricultural land. This provision would improve living standards and agricultural productivity in these areas.
Concluding the presentation, Gopal Italia expressed hope that the upcoming budget would prioritize the welfare of farmers, laborers, traders, students, and youth, ensuring transparent and effective utilization of funds for the development of Visavadar, Junagadh, and the entire Saurashtra region.
