The Chief Minister said that the celebration is dedicated to the glory of the historic Somnath Temple in Gujarat, which holds a unique place in India’s spiritual geography as the first among the 12 Jyotirlingas of Lord Shiva. He emphasized that the temple is not just a place of worship but a living symbol of India’s civilizational strength.
CM Saini highlighted that Somnath Temple has witnessed centuries of invasions and reconstruction, making it a powerful example of India’s resilience and unwavering faith. He noted that despite destruction in history, the temple was rebuilt repeatedly, showcasing the nation’s cultural endurance.

Saini added that the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi has given renewed importance to India’s heritage sites, promoting the concept of “development with heritage.” He said that several pilgrimage sites across India, including Kashi, Ayodhya, Kedarnath, and Ujjain, have been developed with modern infrastructure while preserving their cultural identity.
According to him, Somnath Temple today stands as a blend of architectural brilliance, spiritual energy, and cultural heritage. He described it as a “living pilgrimage site” that continues to attract millions of devotees every year.
The Chief Minister said the purpose of celebrating Somnath Swabhiman Parv is to honor India’s cultural continuity and spiritual unity, reminding citizens of the country’s rich heritage and historical strength.
