Punjab’s Mann government launches Hub-and-Spoke model to save heart patients’ lives, ensuring timely treatment and faster access to cardiac care.
The Punjab government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, has launched an innovative Hub-and-Spoke model to enhance timely treatment for heart patients. Health Minister Balbir Singh shared details about the new initiative, aimed at improving cardiac care across the state.
The Hub-and-Spoke model connects primary, secondary, and tertiary hospitals, ensuring that patients receive prompt and effective treatment at the right facility. This system is designed to simplify the process for patients, allowing heart patients to get immediate attention during emergencies.
Under this model, local hospitals act as “spokes” while major cardiac centers function as “hubs.” Patients identified with critical heart conditions at spoke hospitals are quickly referred to hub hospitals for advanced treatment, significantly reducing delays that could risk lives.

Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann emphasized that the initiative reflects the government’s commitment to public health and its proactive approach to tackling cardiac emergencies.
The Mann government’s Hub-and-Spoke model is expected to benefit thousands of heart patients across Punjab by streamlining healthcare services and reducing mortality rates.
