Monsoon Tracker: IMD issues a red signal for these states; Delhi experiences a break from the scorching temperatures

 IMD: The next five days will see heavy to extremely heavy rainfall across Kerala, Konkan, Goa, and the coastal and south interior regions of Karnataka, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD).

IMD: On Friday, rain fell in some areas of Delhi, providing much-needed respite from the scorching summer in the nation’s capital.

The Regional Meteorological Centre predicts that the nation’s capital will likely see rain and partly cloudy skies along with wind gusts of 40 to 50 kmph.

For the next five days, Kerala, Konkan, Goa, and the coastal and south interior regions of Karnataka are under a red alert, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD).

The weather service predicted significant rainfall in these areas.

Goa and Konkan

The meteorological service predicts that Konkan and Goa will likely have isolated heavy (64.5-115.5 mm) to very heavy (115.5-204.4 mm) rainfall on June 21 and 22. On the other hand, the area is expected to experience isolated heavy (64.5-115.5 mm), very heavy (115.5-204.4 mm), or extremely heavy falls (>204.4 mm) from June 23 to June 25.

Mahe and Kerala

Kerala and Mahe are expected to see isolated periods of heavy (64.5-115.5 mm) to very severe (115.5-204.4 mm) rainfall on June 21 and 22. On the other hand, the area is expected to experience isolated heavy (64.5-115.5 mm), very heavy (115.5-204.4 mm), or extremely heavy falls (>204.4 mm) from June 23 to June 25.

Karnataka’s coast

On June 21 and 22, coastal Karnataka is likely to have isolated periods of heavy to very heavy rainfall, with potentially extremely heavy showers. On the other hand, isolated periods of heavy to extremely heavy rainfall are expected on June 23 and June 25.

The IMD predicts that on June 21 and 22, there is a very good chance of isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall in South Interior Karnataka.

The Southwest Monsoon progresses

According to the IMD, the Southwest Monsoon has spread to further areas of Chhattisgarh, Odisha, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, and the remaining portions of Vidarbha. Additionally, it has spread to some areas of Jharkhand, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Gangetic West Bengal, and the remaining portions of West Bengal.
