India have secured their place in the Asia Cup 2025 Super Four after the UAE defeated Oman on Monday, September 15.
India ,The win not only gave UAE their first victory of the tournament but also kept their qualification hopes alive. At the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi, Muhammad Waseem’s side cruised past Jatinder Singh’s Oman with a 42-run win after posting 172/5.
With this result, India, who have won both their opening matches, are guaranteed a Super Four berth. Sitting on four points and topping the group table, they cannot be overtaken as no other side can reach their tally. Pakistan remain second with two points, while UAE, also on two, trail due to an inferior net run rate. Oman, meanwhile, are still winless after two outings.
In the UAE vs Oman clash, skipper Waseem and Alishan Sharafu starred with the bat, each hitting half-centuries after a cautious start. Sharafu made 51 off 38 balls before falling in the 11th over, while Waseem anchored the innings with a 69-ball 54. During his knock, the captain also crossed the 3,000-run mark in record time—achieving the feat in just 1,947 deliveries, surpassing Jos Buttler’s previous record of 2,068.
UAE’s bowling attack then dominated the chase. Junaid Siddique struck early with two wickets in his first two overs and later returned to claim two more, finishing with a four-wicket haul. Haider Ali and Muhammad Jawadullah chipped in with two wickets apiece as Oman folded for 130.
Despite being level on points with Pakistan, UAE must beat them in their upcoming fixture to confirm a Super Four spot alongside India.
