AAP leader Niranjan Vasava alleges tribal farmers face land-related injustice in Kevadia, Gujarat, and demands compensation and resolution of grievances by October 31.
Kevadia: A political controversy has emerged in Gujarat’s Narmada district over allegations of land encroachment, inadequate compensation and employment opportunities for tribal communities in the Kevadia region. Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Narmada district president and state organisation secretary Niranjan Vasava has accused the BJP-led government and the administration of neglecting the concerns of local tribal farmers.
Raising the issue of Kevadia tribal farmers’ land rights, Vasava alleged that development projects are being undertaken at the expense of local communities. He claimed that some farmers’ lands are being filled with soil and stones without proper consent or compensation, while those demanding justice are allegedly facing intimidation and police cases.
The AAP leader has called on the government and concerned authorities to address the farmers’ grievances before October 31. He also warned of a peaceful, Gandhian-style protest during the Prime Minister’s upcoming programme if the demands remain unresolved.
AAP Leader Alleges Tribal Farmers Are Being Denied Justice
Niranjan Vasava criticised the state and central governments, alleging that tribal farmers in the region are struggling to secure justice for their land-related grievances. Comparing the situation with the Patidar agitation, he claimed that political leaders and ministers had intervened to resolve issues during that movement, whereas the concerns of tribal farmers in Kevadia continue to remain unresolved.
According to Vasava, local communities are not receiving adequate employment opportunities, while people coming from outside the region are benefiting from development activities.
He argued that development should not come at the cost of the rights and livelihoods of indigenous communities. The allegations have brought renewed attention to Kevadia tribal farmers’ land rights and the need to examine land ownership, compensation and project approvals.

Questions Raised Over Projects Between Statue of Unity and Garudeshwar
Vasava alleged that several large-scale projects, including tent cities, have been developed along the stretch between the Statue of Unity in Kevadia and Garudeshwar without obtaining the necessary permissions or approvals from local gram panchayats.
He questioned whether local communities had been adequately consulted before these projects were undertaken. According to the AAP leader, development activities in the area should follow the applicable rules and respect the rights of the original landowners.
However, the allegations regarding permissions and project approvals have not been independently verified. Official records and responses from the concerned authorities would be necessary to establish the facts.
Allegations of Land Filling Without Compensation
One of the key concerns raised by Vasava relates to agricultural plots located near roads in the Kevadia region. He claimed that these lands originally belonged to local farmers who cultivated crops and grew trees, including mango and jamun.
According to him, heavy vehicles and trucks are being used to transport soil and stones to fill these agricultural plots. He alleged that such activities are taking place without obtaining the landowners’ consent or paying appropriate compensation.
Vasava also pointed out that the Narmada Nigam office and a circuit house used for the accommodation of the Prime Minister are located in the vicinity of the areas mentioned in his allegations.
He questioned how construction and land-filling activities could allegedly proceed without resolving the concerns of the original landowners. The AAP leader has demanded an investigation into the land records, construction activities and compensation arrangements.
Farmers Allegedly Facing Difficulties Obtaining Land Documents
Vasava further alleged that farmers approaching the administration, the Statue of Unity authorities and officials of the concerned corporation for their original land documents are not receiving the necessary paperwork.
He claimed that this has forced farmers and economically disadvantaged families to make repeated visits to government offices, adding to their difficulties in pursuing their claims.
The AAP leader also alleged that farmers and local representatives raising objections are being threatened with police action and false FIRs. These claims remain allegations made by the political leader and require verification from the relevant authorities.
Calling for immediate intervention, Vasava demanded that officials from the concerned departments visit the affected locations, examine the farmers’ complaints and take steps to resolve the disputes.
October 31 Deadline Set for Resolving Farmers’ Grievances
Niranjan Vasava has urged the Gujarat government, the local administration, the Statue of Unity authorities and the concerned corporation to take immediate action on the farmers’ demands.
He has set October 31 as the deadline for resolving the grievances of farmers in Kevadia and the wider Narmada region. According to his warning, failure to provide justice by that date could lead to a peaceful protest during the Prime Minister’s upcoming programme.
Vasava stated that the proposed demonstration would not be limited to the Aam Aadmi Party. He claimed that leaders from other political parties and representatives of different social organisations could also join the protest.
The announcement signals a possible escalation of the political dispute if the farmers’ concerns are not addressed within the stated timeframe.
Tribal Land Rights and Development in Focus
The controversy highlights concerns surrounding land ownership, compensation, employment and the participation of local communities in development projects in the Kevadia region.
The issue of Kevadia tribal farmers’ land rights has become central to the demands raised by Vasava, who insists that affected farmers should receive their original land documents and fair treatment from the administration.
For now, the allegations remain those made by the AAP leader. A clear understanding of the dispute will depend on the relevant land records, permissions for construction projects, compensation documents and responses from the authorities concerned.
With October 31 approaching, the government’s response and any steps taken to address the farmers’ grievances will be important in determining whether the dispute is resolved through administrative intervention or leads to the proposed protest.
