Minister Savitri Thakur participates in the World Hindi Day celebration at the Permanent Mission of India.
Minister Savitri Thakur : Following the 63rd session of the Commission for Social Development in New York, a high-level bilateral discussion was held between the Indian delegation, led by Minister of State for Women and Child Development, Minister Savitri Thakur , and the Jamaican team, headed by Ms. Dione Jennings, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Labour and Social Security. The meeting focused on potential collaboration in digitization and leveraging technology to strengthen social protection systems.
The discussions centered on India’s digital initiatives in financial inclusion, Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT), and old-age pensions, highlighting the crucial role of technology in driving development. A key focus was the Poshan Tracker, India’s innovative digital tool for monitoring and enhancing nutritional outcomes. The dialogue explored how similar technological advancements could strengthen Jamaica’s social security framework. Both sides emphasized the importance of digital solutions in ensuring efficient, transparent, and impactful delivery of social welfare programs.
Additionally, the Indian delegation also engaged in discussions with Zambia on utilizing the Poshan Tracker to monitor social and nutritional outcomes across Anganwadi Centers in India.
Following the meeting, the World Hindi Day celebration took place at the Permanent Mission of India (PMI) in New York, graced by the esteemed presence of Ambassador of India, Shri Parvathaneni Harish, along with other senior mission officials. The event highlighted India’s dedication to promoting cultural and linguistic exchange on the global stage.
