MS Dhoni opines that age shouldn’t matter for Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli in ODI World Cup 2027. Fitness and performance are key, and experience makes them indispensable.
There has been ongoing debate over whether Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli should feature in the ODI World Cup 2027. Recently, legendary former captain MS Dhoni weighed in on the matter, emphasizing fitness and performance over age as the key deciding factors.
Dhoni’s Perspective on Age and Experience
Speaking at a promotional event hosted by Jatin Sapru, MS Dhoni made it clear that age should not be a criterion for selection. Instead, players’ fitness and hunger to perform should determine their inclusion.
“Why not? Why should somebody not play the next World Cup? For me, age is not a criteria. Performance, fitness, these are the criteria,” MS Dhoni said. He added that no one should dictate to Rohit or Kohli about their future, stressing that experience is irreplaceable.
“You can’t get a 20-year-old who’s experienced unless it’s Sachin Tendulkar,” he remarked, highlighting the value of seasoned players in high-pressure tournaments.
